Incorporated in 1990 as the Michigan Nonprofit Forum, the organization was first a think-tank dedicated to discussing issues impacting nonprofits. In 1994, the organization was renamed as the Michigan Nonprofit Association to provide direct advocacy and services to local nonprofit organizations.

🎥 What could changes to the 2030 Census mean for Michigan nonprofits and the communities they serve?

In this video, MNA's Community Impact Director, Brian Hercliff-Proffer, breaks down a newly proposed federal rule that could significantly impact how people are counted in the 2030 Census.

The proposed changes include:
✅ Redefining "usual residence"
✅ Excluding some immigrants from apportionment
✅ Expanding the use of administrative records
✅ Considering a legal-status question
✅ Restricting demographic questions

Why does this matter? Census data helps determine funding for critical programs that Michigan communities rely on, including Medicaid, nutrition assistance, education, transportation, housing, and more.
