Three impactful days on Mackinac Island for

MNA's public policy team, Joan Gustafson, Danielle McCann, Annie Hamaty, and President & CEO Kelley Kuhn, spent the week connecting with leaders, building relationships, and advancing policies that strengthen Michigan's nonprofit sector.

We were also proud to unveil our new Economic Benefits of Michigan's Nonprofit Sector report, which highlights the vital role nonprofits play in powering Michigan's communities, workforce, and economy.

You can read the report here: https://bit.ly/4vhl2w5

And in true Mackinac fashion, Joan's giant fathead made its way across the island and into more than a few photos. We're still trying to determine who gave it the most mileage. 😂

No matter where the conversations happen, MNA's public policy team is always working for Michigan nonprofits.

Our pets asked nicely… now they’re begging you to take MNA's Compensation & Benefits survey!
We've extended the deadline to June 12 giving you a little more time.

It only takes about 30–45 minutes and helps nonprofits across Michigan make smarter, fair, and competitive pay and benefits decisions. If you’re involved in HR or setting compensation, we need your input!

Take it by June 12...our pets are counting on you.

Max: “I don’t work for free… I accept payment in treats. Preferably, cheese."
Tracker: "Trying to fetch one thing: your survey response!"
Dozer: “Sorry, I just HAD to weigh in on that call.”
Ditto: "I’ve tried sitting, staying… now I’m begging. Please take the survey."
Tucker: “Help nonprofits build fair, competitive benefits (and belly rubs)."
Charlie: "My job at MNA? Make everyone smile. Your job? Take the survey!"
Maximus Prime: “I believe in working smarter, not harder—which is exactly why this survey matters."
Aurora Borealis: "I’ve been spreading the message… loudly. Have you taken the survey yet?”

Fresh, local food should be easy for everyone to get.
That’s exactly what the Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA) is all about.

Based in East Lansing, this nonprofit is helping communities across Michigan find healthy, locally grown food while supporting farmers, vendors, and the folks who make farmers markets possible.

Their work is making a real difference in building stronger local food systems and improving food security across our state.

We’re proud to feature MIFMA in our newest video.

A packed house this afternoon at The Dandelion Gatherings at Co.act Detroit!

MNA President & CEO Kelley Kuhn joined other nonprofit leaders for an important conversation about the future of our sector and the power of community.

One message stood out: nonprofits are a trusted resource in our communities. As Kelley shared during the panel, “Trust is our biggest currency.”

Thank you to everyone who came out to listen and connect!

Cancer is hard enough, paying for treatment shouldn’t be another burden. Across the U.S., 3 out of every 4 patients worry about how they’ll afford their cancer care. Here in Michigan, a local nonprofit is stepping up to help.

YesRX Michigan, a 501c 3 nonprofit based in Ann Arbor, is improving access to lifesaving cancer medications for patients who need them—at no cost—so no one has to choose between treatment and financial stability.

We’re proud to feature them in the latest video from our campaign.

Last Thursday, the MNA team traveled to Midland to volunteer at the Children's Grief Center of the Great Lakes Bay Region, an MNA member helping children, teens, and their families grieving the loss of a loved one.

We had a great time touring the center and learning more about the important work being done there. Then we rolled up our sleeves and got to work creating arts and crafts projects to support the children and families served by the center.

You can also support this nonprofit too at their annual “Grit Your Grief” 5K Run/Walk fundraiser next Saturday on the MBS International Airport runway. Every step helps provide healing and support for children and families in local communities.
