Lancaster, NY – September 15, 2026 – Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps (LVAC) announces that its service as the contracted ambulance provider for the Town of Alden will end this week.

For the past nine months, LVAC has been engaged in negotiations with the Town of Alden regarding the continued provision of emergency medical services to the Alden community.
Last evening, LVAC was informed by the Town that it has decided to sign a contract with a new emergency medical services provider beginning January 1, 2027.

LVAC’s current contract with the Town of Alden expires at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Effective at midnight on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps will no longer provide ambulance coverage to the Town of Alden.

While we respect the Town’s right to replace their dedicated service with another company, we caution residents that this may not be the same level of reliability as they have experienced with LVAC. The Town should not expect that LVAC is able to fill the gaps in coverage, as the Town has not contracted with LVAC to do so. Mutual aid coming from far outside the Town may fill some of the gaps, but LVAC is no longer obligated to staff the same number of ambulances as it did when it served your Town. We are concerned for your safety, but trust that the Town Board has made a choice in your best interest.

LVAC has proudly served as the Town of Alden’s contracted ambulance provider since 2016. For the past ten years, our paramedics and EMTs have responded when members of the Alden community needed help, often during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

We are grateful for the trust Alden residents have placed in our organization and our providers over the past decade. We are equally grateful to the LVAC employees and members who have served the community with professionalism, compassion, and dedication.

While our time as Alden’s contracted ambulance provider is coming to an end, we remain proud of the service we have provided and the relationships we have built within the community.

To the residents of Alden, thank you for allowing Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps to serve your community for the past ten years. It has truly been our privilege.

On this 25th anniversary of 9/11/01 we pause to remember the lives forever lost on that day and the brave people we have lost since due to health issues and injuries from those who went to aide in its aftermath. Today around the county people are holding memorials to remember this day. May we never forget! God Bless America today and everyday!

The Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps has issued an urgent appeal to the local business community and residents within their territory for financial support, as skyrocketing operational costs and stagnant insurance reimbursements strain the organization’s budget.

Funds raised through this business campaign will go directly toward maintaining the fleet, purchasing life-saving equipment, and sustaining 24/7 highly skilled paramedic staffing.

“Your donation goes directly back into the organization to pay for our full-time, highly skilled and EMTs,” said William Revelas, interim president at LVAC. “Every contribution makes a real difference.”

Upcoming hurdles for the organization include the cost of a new roof and two ambulances priced at approximately $250,000 each.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Officers, and Staff of Lancaster Ambulance, we extend our deepest condolences to Seneca Hose Fire, Erie County EMS, and Erie County HAZMAT on the passing of fellow first responder Tyler Schenck.

It is with great sadness that we notify you of the loss of one of our members, Tyler Schenck, who passed away in an accident last evening.

Tyler was not only a valued and respected member of our organization, but also a member of the Erie County Department of Health, EMS Division; the Erie County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Services, Hazardous Materials Response Team; and Hamburg EMS, as well as a former member of Reserve Fire Company.

At approximately 2200 hours on August 22, 2026, emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident in the Town of Elma. Members of the Blossom Vol. Fire Company, Spring Brook Fire District #1, Erie County EMS, and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office responded and worked together to manage the incident.

Tyler was described by those who knew and worked alongside him as lovable, lighthearted, and a passionate EMS provider who genuinely cared about everyone he met. During his time serving in the fire and EMS communities, Tyler made a meaningful impact on his coworkers, fellow first responders, and the people he served. His loss will be deeply felt throughout our public safety, fire, and EMS communities. Our deepest condolences go out to the Schenck family, Tyler’s friends, and his fellow members during this incredibly difficult time.

We recognize that the sudden loss of a coworker and fellow first responder can affect each of us differently. Employees are encouraged to support one another and utilize the resources available to them. Confidential assistance is available through:
