Lancaster Ambulance (LVAC) is a nonprofit 501c EMS agency headquartered in the Village of Lancaster, NY. We began service to our community in 1953 as the Town of Lancaster Police Ambulance Service. In 1975, we became a separate entity from the Police Department and became known as the Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Lancaster Ambulance has been providing pre-hospital emergency medical care to

the communities of the Villages of Depew and Lancaster along with the Town of Lancaster for over 60 years. We began on July 29, 2016 servicing the Village of Alden in Erie County as that community's ALS (Advanced Life Support) Backup for the Alden Fire Department. On September 25, 2016, we began operating as the primary transport service for all EMS in the Town of Alden. We also serve our surrounding communities when summoned through mutual aid requests. We also have private contracts with Nursing Homes in the area such as Greenfield, Harris Hill, Elderwood, Symphony Manor and urgent care centers like MASH Urgent Care and Five Star Urgent Care. We also serve Wende Correctional Facility and Alden (Erie County) Correctional Facility. We have adapted to changes in the EMS field and embrace the latest technologies available to our EMS Providers. We operate out of a 5 bay ambulance station which is located at 40 Embry Place off of Walden Avenue near Central Avenue in the Village of Lancaster. We operate 6 ALS equipped ambulances along with 1 ALS equipped flycar. We are a combination department of some 10 online EMS volunteer members and a career staff complement of 36. We operate 3 24 hour Paramedic Level ambulances and staff 1 12 hour BLS/Advanced/Paramedic Level ambulance during the week from 1000-2200. As we reach the middle of National EMS Week, we wanted to take a moment to intentionally pause and recognize the incredible EMS providers and fellow first responders who serve our community every single day. While many EMS Week posts are shared at the beginning of the week, we felt it was important to make sure this recognition did not get lost, because the dedication, sacrifices, and hard work of our crews deserve to be acknowledged all week long.

To our EMS providers, firefighters, police officers, dispatchers, hospital staff, and all first responders, thank you for the countless hours you put in to keep our community safe. Whether it’s a routine call or someone’s worst day, you continue to answer with professionalism, compassion, and commitment.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Great Lakes Coffee Company, The Village Scoop, and Green Acres Ice Cream for partnering with us once again to help celebrate our providers during EMS Week. Your continued support and generosity toward our crews is greatly appreciated.

Happy EMS Week to all EMS providers and first responders. Thank you for everything you do for the communities you serve.

Western New York, we need you ‼️

EMS has long been underfunded by Medicaid in New York, and rising costs continue to outpace inflation. Now, a proposed Medicaid crossover cut threatens to further destabilize ambulance services across the state, putting emergency response resources at risk.

The United New York Ambulance Network (UNYAN) has launched a grassroots advocacy effort urging our elected officials in Albany to reject this cut and it takes less than two minutes to make your voice heard!

Your support could make a meaningful difference in protecting EMS services across Western New York.

Click here to complete the advocacy request. Please also consider forwarding it to your friends and family. The more voices our representatives hear, the stronger our message will be.

Thank you for your support 🚑🚨

Know Your Care Options

Not every medical issue requires an emergency department visit.

If you are not experiencing an emergency and are seeking care for minor, non-life-threatening concerns, EMConnect is a new virtual urgent care option available to our community.

EMConnect provides access to board-certified emergency medicine providers from Western New York through telemedicine. This allows patients to receive timely care while helping reduce unnecessary emergency department utilization.

Examples of concerns that may be appropriate for virtual urgent care include:
• Cold, flu, or COVID-like symptoms
• Minor infections such as urinary tract infections or sinus infections
• Rashes or minor skin issues
• Mild gastrointestinal symptoms
• Medication questions or refills when appropriate

This option helps improve access to care, supports local hospitals, and allows emergency resources to remain available for true emergencies.

For emergencies, always call 911. For appropriate concerns, virtual urgent care may be a convenient alternative.

The Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps is thinking of the Twin City Ambulance EMTs who were injured yesterday evening while operating on the I-290 in the Town of Tonawanda. We wish both members a full and speedy recovery and are grateful to hear they are in stable condition. This incident is a sobering reminder of the dangers first responders face while working on our roadways. We echo the reminder to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles, especially during inclement weather. Our thoughts are with the injured crew members, their families, and the entire Twin City Ambulance team.e
