Join us at Red Robin in Lake Havasu City this Friday and help support Grace And Grit Ranch simply by enjoying a meal!

All you have to do is let your server know that you’re there for the Grace And Grit Ranch fundraiser. At the end of the day, Red Robin will total all participating checks and donate 20% of that amount back to our ranch. 🙌

Nonprofits like ours simply cannot exist without the support of our community. Every meal, every share, every donation, and every person who believes in what we’re building helps us continue our mission.

A year and a half ago, these babies were wild Mustangs, malnourished, unsure, and just trying to survive. Today… look at them. 🥹🤎

Big. Healthy. Beautiful. Safe.

Seeing these photos today hit me right in the heart because this is exactly why Grace and Grit Ranch was started.

We want to give horses like these the time, care, patience, nutrition, training, and love they need to become everything they were meant to be. And someday, these same horses who were once the ones needing help may have the opportunity to stand beside people who are healing too.

That’s the heart of Grace and Grit Ranch.

Rescue. Rehabilitate. Restore.
Not just horses, but hope.

These Mustangs are living proof of what can happen when someone decides they’re worth fighting for.

I look at them now and can hardly believe how far they’ve come in just a year and a half. And it makes me so excited thinking about all the horses we haven’t even met yet… the ones we’ll be able to rescue, nourish, train, love, and give a second chance.

This is only the beginning. 🤎🐴

We are still blown away by the support you all showed us at our last Dine & Donate. Because of YOU — our followers, friends, contributors, supporters, and community — we raised over $400 for Grace and Grit Rescue and Restoration Ranch! 🐴❤️

And now… we get to do it again!

We truly cannot put into words how blessed we feel to have a community that has wrapped its arms around this nonprofit in such a BIG way — especially while we are still in the very beginning stages.

Nonprofits simply cannot exist without community support. Every meal purchased, every fundraiser shared, every donation, every encouraging word, and every person who tells someone else about our mission plays a part in what we are building.

And seeing the support we have already received makes us incredibly excited to think about how many people and horses we will be able to serve, help, and impact because this community believed in the mission from the beginning. ❤️

Thank you thank you thank you for showing up for this nonprofit and the horses and people that it will serve.

Is this nonprofit grows and becomes everything we envision God doing through it? I hope each and every one of you along the way realize what a huge role you played in helping it become everything it does. 🤍

So yesterday we shared the really good news that Annie Oakley’s scope came back clear of ulcers.

But obviously that still left us asking… okay, then what IS causing all this sensitivity around her girth and flank?

Our vet thinks it could be a mix of a couple things.

Her nerves may have gotten super sensitive from dealing with discomfort for a long time, and she may have also learned to expect pain.

Basically, before anything even happens, she may already be bracing for it because at some point in her past, that area hurt.

So just like humans…
Sometimes the body remembers things even after the original pain is gone.

So moving forward, it’s really gonna be about going slow and rebuilding trust.

We’ll keep reintroducing tack little by little, doing lots of groundwork, and paying close attention to what she’s telling us instead of just pushing through.

We also found out she has mild lordosis in her lower back. It’s a little like scoliosis in humans and while it won’t go away, it’s something we can absolutely manage.

We’ll focus on building her core, protecting her back, and watching for signs that she’s getting tired or starting to compensate.

We’ll keep using the massage gun, may add PEMF, and in another month or two we’ll probably have a chiropractic evaluation done.

So really… the plan from here is patience.

Build her body.
Build her confidence.
Help her learn she doesn’t have to brace for pain anymore.
And let her show us who she is at her own pace.

And seriously, thank you to every single person who has donated, prayed, shared her story, or helped support her care.

Vet visits, diagnostics, therapies, feed, farrier work… all of it adds up.

Every bit of support helps us keep saying yes to what she needs.

You guys are part of Annie’s story too.

Rescue isn’t just bringing a horse home.

It’s everything that comes after. 🤎

One more answer. One more thing crossed off the list. 🤎🐴

At 7:30 this morning, Dr. Madelyn with Copper Cactus Veterinary came out to Grace and Grit Ranch to check our sweet Annie Oakley for ulcers.

And we got some good news.

Annie has NO ulcers. 🙌

That does not give us every answer yet, but it does allow us to remove one possible source of discomfort and move forward with a little more clarity.

After evaluating Annie, Dr. Madelyn shared that between physical discomfort and mental discomfort, she would currently lean more toward mental discomfort. We believe some of Annie’s behavior may be coming from anticipation of pain or discomfort based on past experiences rather than active physical pain right now.

So we are going back to the basics.

We are going to approach Annie as an unknown horse, pay very close attention to how she moves during exercise, and watch carefully for any sign that could point to pain or discomfort. If we see something that concerns us, we will make whatever appointments are necessary to continue caring for her in the best way possible.

Most importantly, we are not going to rush her.

We want to give Annie the time and space to rebuild confidence, feel safe in her body, and show us what she needs.

To everyone who has donated toward Annie Oakley’s care, thank you. Because of your generosity, Annie received the care she needed today and we were able to cross another concern off the list.

We’re getting ready for the Havasu Hoedown this December, and we’re looking for local businesses and community members who want to come alongside us as sponsors.

This event is about more than one night. It’s about helping support real people in our community; survivors, families, and those walking through hard seasons, with services, support, and opportunities for healing through Faith and Grace and Grace & Grit Ranch.

This part of the mission is personal to me 🙏🏼

I know what it feels like to need a second chance. I know what it feels like to rebuild a life from places I never thought I’d come back from. That’s a big part of why Grace & Grit means so much to me, and why serving people who are hurting hits so close to home.

When a business chooses to sponsor the Havasu Hoedown, they’re not just putting their name on an event. They’re helping make it possible for us to keep showing up for people in this community when they need it most.

We have sponsorship opportunities ranging from $500 to $10,000, with several different ways for local businesses to be involved.

And sponsorships are just the beginning. As we get closer to the event, we’ll also be looking for vendors, food trucks, and donations for our live auction, so there will be lots of ways for local businesses and community members to be part of the Havasu Hoedown.
