Happy Friday everyone! For this Firefighter Friday we are featuring Zee Lanners. Here’s what Zee had to say:

Hi I’m Zee Lanners. I’m an Advanced EMT and Firefighter with the Chippewa Fire District. I’ve been with the department since 2022.
After getting out of high school, I had many ideas as to what I wanted to do for a career. Maybe become a Game Warden, a Police Officer, or a Video Game Programmer. After years of taking classes and not knowing what I wanted, I randomly decided one day to try the EMT program at CVTC. From there, I was immediately hooked!
When I’m not spending my time at the District, I work extra hours at the Chippewa Humane Association. I’ve been working with the critters for 4 years now. I have brought home 3 of my own now since working there!
When I have free time, I like to spend time with friends/family, play some video games, play with my pets, and sitting by the fire at night with a cup of hot apple c***r.
I have enjoyed my time here at the District so far! I’ve made new friends, learned so many things, and have had such good experiences!

Manager of Fleet Maintenance and Motor Pump Operator Chuck Smith of Station 1 was recognized at the last Station meeting for his years of service. He received a 45 year service ribbon. Congratulations Chuck and thank you for your time and dedication to the fire service!

Captain/AEMT Tony Schlueter of Station 1 was presented with a red helmet at the last Station meeting for his recent promotion to Captain. Congratulations Tony!

Hallie Firefighters trained on vehicle extrication this week. Both fire and EMS skills are tested when patients need to be removed from entrapments in a vehicle. Training how to do so safely provides the best outcomes for responders and patients. 🚒⚒️🚙

Welcome back to Firefighter Friday! Today we are featuring FF/EMT-B Dan Dominski. Here is what Dan shared about himself:

Hi! My name is Dan Dominski. I am a paid on call Firefighter/EMT-B at Chippewa Fire District. I grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Memorial High School in 2018. At 18 I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and spent 4 years active duty at the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) in Indian Head, MD. It was there that I got introduced to the world of Technical Rescue, Emergency medical services, decontamination of victims in hazardous environments, and much more. I had the privilege of working closely with my unit’s Navy Corpsmen where I found my love for EMS.

Shortly after my time in the Marines, I attended CVTC where I got my EMT-B certification. In 2024 I joined Chippewa Fire District, who then sponsored me through Firefighter 1. I now work shifts on the ambulance here, while attending paramedic school full time at CVTC. I recently completed Firefighter 2, and am currently in a vehicle extrication class, both sponsored by CFD!

In my free time, I enjoy spending my time with my family, including my Wife, Olivia, and 16 month old son, Warren. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, and just about anything outdoors!

A special thank you to my family and all the amazing members of CFD for being so encouraging of my journey in Fire/EMS!

Stations 1 and 6 came together for live fire training last week on Wednesday, utilizing the burn trailer from CVTC. Fire behavior, hydraulic ventilation, withstanding high temperatures, and water movement were trained on together as crews. 🔥🚒

B shift crews worked with a Mayo flight crew today when a call required a higher level of care. Mayo One was able to land in the Station 1 parking lot to meet the ambulance.
