Our first-ever drive-through book drive was a huge success!

Together, we received 1,157 book donations from our community that will help stock our shelves as we prepare to open our doors this fall. We were even surprised with a last-minute donation just before closing, so we had to snap a second photo to capture the final total!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, donated books, and shared their excitement about joining the Bernie’s Book Bank family!

We’re kicking off Literacy Month with something BIG—and we’re so excited to finally share it with you!

We teamed up with Wes Tank, creator of StoryRaps, to bring you a music video that shows exactly what happens when you give a child a book. 📖✨

Featuring our K-5 friends at Carver Academy and the incredible volunteers who help make book ownership possible, this one is all about the joy, imagination and possibilities that begin with a book.

Birdies & Books 2026 was one for the books!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Shoreacres for the 18th Annual Birdies & Books Charity Golf Classic presented by Reed Construction—and to the incredible sponsors, golfers, and supporters who made it our most successful Birdies & Books yet.

We set out to provide books to 5,200 children. You helped us go far beyond that goal. With sponsorships included, Birdies & Books 2026 will put books into the hands of more than 25,000 children! 🎉

That means more than 25,000 children will receive eight quality, books a year, matched to their reading level and theirs to keep, hand-delivered.📚💚

And this is just part of our impact. This year, Bernie’s Book Bank will reach roughly 400,000 children with the gift of book ownership.

Thank you for showing up, swinging big, and believing in the power of books.

Today, we remember and honor the extraordinary legacy of Dolly Parton.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she helped put millions of books into the hands of children around the world, inspiring generations of young readers and helping families build home libraries of their own.

Having books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library come through our Processing Center to distribute in our book bags is a great honor and a meaningful expansion of our mission.

We’re excited to invite you to support a major milestone for Bernie’s Book Bank Greater Milwaukee as we prepare to open our doors and serve children throughout our community.

To launch our newest chapter, we set a bold goal: collect 10,000 children’s books before our Grand Opening Celebration on Oct. 22, 2026.

Every book you give lands in the hands of a local child who needs it most. One book or a whole box full, your donation helps launch Bernie’s Book Bank Greater Milwaukee in a big way. Just drive up, drop off, and you’re done done! You won’t even need to leave your car.
