Check out our new Chicagoland Processing Center mural by the wonderful muralist, Chad Kouri, who brought the history of Bernie’s Book Bank and the power of our mission to life, with a Chicago edge. From the green bag a child carries home to the mountains of books, the heart held in a helping green hand signifying our passionate volunteers and committed partners who power everything we do, and the signature “B” that started it all, every detail reflects the community and mission that continue to move us forward.
Look again, and you’ll find Chicagoland interwoven throughout—the Willis Tower rising above the skyline, the Bean, the waves of Lake Michigan, the star of the Chicago flag, the Chicago river, an apple for our distribution partners, and the #1, whose shape recognizes our beginning in the garage.
This is Chicagoland, where Bernie’s Book Bank was founded and the community that has carried our mission forward ever since. And like every good story, every person understands, recognizes, and provides their own perspective.💚
