π Calling All Volunteers: Help Us Bring West Point's STEAMfest to Life! π§΅π»
West Point STEAMfest: The Art of Innovation is coming to the Chattahoochee Riverwalk on Saturday, October 10th (10amβ1pm) β and we need volunteers to help run our hands-on activity stations!
This free event brings together computer science, engineering, and art to celebrate West Point's incredible innovation story β from the punch-card textile looms of the 1800s, to West Point Manufacturing's early computers, to Kia's robot-driven plant today. We're inviting kids and families to explore that legacy through fun, hands-on stations like binary bracelet-making, community quilt stitching, robot races, circuit building, and music-coding.
We're especially looking for:
π High school students β a great way to earn service hours while inspiring the next generation
π Teachers β bring your classroom energy and help kids see CS and engineering in a whole new light
π« Local college students β students from Point University, LaGrange College, West Georgia Technical College, and beyond are welcome!
π Community members of all backgrounds who love working with kids
You don't need to be a tech expert to volunteer β volunteers will be supported by staff and students from Georgia State University and Georgia Tech, who'll help train you on your station ahead of time and be on-site the day of the event.
π When: Saturday, October 10 | 10amβ1pm
π Where: Hawkes Library & Chattahoochee Riverwalk, West Point, GA
π Commitment: A few hours of your Saturday morning β training provided!
Whether you're a student looking for service hours, a teacher who loves a good hands-on lesson, or a neighbor who wants to be part of something great β we'd love to have you.

Let's show these kids that West Point has always been β and still is β a town of innovators. π§‘
