Lafayette Rotary Indiana supports Imagination Library. A wonderful book gifting program that mails high-quality age-appropriate books directly to children's homes every month from birth until their fifth birthday. The program is entirely free to families.

BIBI BAHRAMI is from Afghanistan and is a Rotarian in Muncie, Indiana. In 2002, she formed AWAKEN, which stands for Afghan Women's And Kids' Education & Necessities. This organization has received support from several different Rotary clubs including Downtown Indianapolis; Portland, Indiana; and Muncie
Sunrise. The AWAKEN organization supports
education, healthcare, and water & sanitation projects
in Afghanistan. They have set up home schools in five
different villages and built a school building in 2004. They work to provide healthcare services in rural areas. A mobile health clinic travels to several villages and treats an average of 120 patients per day. Pre-natal and birthing care are especially important to prevent infant and maternal mortality. The Taliban do allow women to study mid-wifery and AWAKEN
provides financial support for tuition. BIBI has helped fifty families from Afghanistan settle in Muncie and has
worked to help them navigate the legal immigration system. Our own International Committee will be contributing funds for a joint project with AWAKEN.
Donations to this project can be made payable to District 6560 Foundation with "Lafayette International fund" in the memo line. Turn in your check at the welcome table.

Community scholarship students at Rotary today.

From this year’s charitable budget, $1,200 was set aside for service projects. We gave that amount to Mackey Children's Cancer Fund, represented by Joe Mackey, to support families with children receiving treatment at Riley Hospital for Children.
Thank you to everyone who donated gift cards for these families.
