This summer holds special meaning as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday - a historic milestone that invites us to reflect on our nation’s past, appreciate the present, and look forward to the future. Occasions like this remind us of the value of community, tradition, and the simple pleasures of spending time together.

At Masthope Mountain Community, there is no better place to embrace the spirit of this celebration than in the beauty of the great outdoors, surrounded by friends, family, and neighbors. With exciting events, shared experiences, and lasting memories waiting to be made, this is shaping up to be a truly unforgettable summer.

Friendly reminder: if you see a fawn alone, please do not assume it has been abandoned.

Each year, well-meaning people mistakenly remove healthy fawns from the wild believing they are helping. In most cases, the mother is nearby and intentionally leaves the fawn hidden while she feeds. This is normal behavior, and she will return.

A fawn that appears alone for several hours is not necessarily orphaned or in danger. Removing or handling wildlife without proper guidance may be illegal and can cause unnecessary stress and separation from its mother.

Before touching, moving, or attempting to rescue a fawn, please contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator or professional for advice and wait for guidance before taking action.

In many situations, the best way to help is to leave the fawn undisturbed and allow the mother to return.

Thank you for helping protect our wildlife.
