LA MIRADA—GET READY FOR WORLD CUP EXCITEMENT RIGHT HERE IN OUR COMMUNITY! ⚽🎉

The La Mirada Chamber of Commerce is proud to support one of our local members, La Casa Del Cocinero, as they bring the community together for a series of exciting World Cup watch parties.

We’re kicking things off this Thursday with the opening match:

One of the best things about the La Mirada Coordinating Council is learning about all the great things happening throughout our community. Here are some upcoming opportunities, events, and ways to get involved:

Kids Adventure Week returns June 15–19! Organizers anticipate 350–400 children participating, and dinner will be served each evening.

Look for the Arts Colony face-painting booth at this summer's Concerts in the Park series. This fun activity helps support local arts programming. They are also preparing for their annual Mirrors of the Mind event coming in November.

Congratulations to the Friends on raising more than $3,000 at their recent book sale! Residents are also encouraged to take advantage of the Library's Seed Library program. (Yes, free seeds for your garden!)

Scouting representatives also reported strong participation in Memorial Day activities, including the placement of approximately 90,000 flags at cemeteries and memorial sites honoring veterans.

Last Thursday, the La Mirada Coordinating Council gathered for another meaningful meeting filled with connection, collaboration, and community updates. 💙

We were excited to welcome Adriana Spiriscu, a Green Hills resident, who shared about the neighborhood’s beloved 4th of July Block Parade happening at 10:00 AM—and this year will be extra special as we celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary! 🇺🇸 She warmly invited the community to come out and join the celebration.

We also welcomed a new member, Russ Ingram with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—so glad to have you with us!

Throughout the meeting, organizations shared incredible ways they are serving our city:

✨ Grace EV Free Church – “Adventure Week” Vacation Bible School (June 15–19, 6:00–8:15 PM), open to the public, plus their weekly Friday food bank (no food bank the week of VBS).

✨ Straight Talk Counseling – Expanding online groups, plus a summer adult workshop focused on grounding & coping skills, and a leadership-focused summer camp at Neff Park.

✨ City of La Mirada – Newly launched website (lamirada.gov 🎉), a June 6th celebration (6–9 PM) with a drone air show, summer concerts returning but at a new Neff Park location, and updates on city projects.

✨ La Mirada Chamber of Commerce – Cinco de Mayo Breakfast on May 5 (La Casa del Cocinero), and a golf tournament coming October 19.

✨ Kiwanis Club – Raised $2,600 through Quartermania, ongoing support for schools, and volunteers needed for July 1–4 fireworks booths.

✨ La Mirada Community Foundation – Estate planning classes helped 25 adults

✨PTA Founders Day is April 28.

✨ Temple Beth Ohr – Celebrating 70 years in La Mirada and sharing upcoming concert June 14th at Temple Beth Long Beach.

✨ La Mirada Veterans Coordinating Council – Memorial Day Ceremony on May 25 at 10 AM (Civic Center Plaza); seeking wreath sponsors.

✨ Neighborhood Life Church – Father’s Day BBQ (June 21) and Vacation Bible School (June 23–26).

✨ Friends of the La Mirada Library – Shared their Book Sale was on Saturday!

✨ La Mirada Arts Colony – Honored with the Millie Taylor Community Award and hosting an art demo May 4.

✨ Love La Mirada – Foster Park Neighborhood BBQ (May 14), Sunset Yoga in the Park (June 20 at 6:45 PM), and upcoming service opportunities including a summer mini Day of Service.

✨ VFW – Breakfast coming up on May 3.

✨ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Upcoming temple open house in Yorba Linda on April 30.

So much good is happening across our city. It’s always inspiring to see organizations working together, sharing resources, and strengthening our community.

We truly are better together. 💙

Tomorrow Ebell is hosting a Bingo fundraiser at 2:00 PM in Norwalk benefiting Norwalk and La Mirada students. It should be a really fun afternoon bringing people together for a great cause. See flyer for more information.

We’re excited to announce that our Stamp Out Hunger event is right around the corner! This vital community effort helps collect food for local families in need, and we’re asking for your help to
make it a success. 💙

We are looking for volunteers at each location, with the following needs:

📍 Whittier (Michigan) – 4 volunteers needed
📍 Santa Fe Springs – 6 volunteers needed
📍 La Mirada – 20 volunteers needed
