Our Poultry judge for State Fair!

🐔 Meet Our Oregon State Fair Poultry Judge — Gary Overton!

We are excited to welcome Gary Overton as the 4-H & FFA Poultry Judge at the Oregon State Fair!

Gary brings an incredible 45 years of experience in the poultry industry, with a background that includes breeding and raising poultry, exhibiting, show management, 4-H leadership, and judging. He is a licensed judge with both the American Poultry Association and American Bantam Association and has earned recognition as an APA Master Breeder and Master Exhibitor.

Throughout his career, Gary has judged poultry in 38 of the lower 48 states, Alaska, Canada, and England. He has also shared his knowledge as an author, mentor, and seminar speaker at The Ohio State University, Penn State University, and numerous poultry clinics and events.

Gary's decades of experience and commitment to mentoring the next generation make him a tremendous addition to this year's show.

Welcome to Oregon, Gary! We look forward to having you in the ring with our 4-H & FFA poultry exhibitors at the Oregon State Fair!

Don't forget!

Tomorrow, August 12th, is the last day to submit entries for the 2026 Oregon State Fair.

All static exhibits that qualified and are being sent to State MUST be turned in to the Extension office by tomorrow afternoon at 5pm. No exhibits will be accepted after this date/time.

All livestock entries MUST be communicated to Shelby Benson by tomorrow at 5pm in order for them to be submitted and stalling allocated. Please make sure to include the number of each species of animal thar you will be bringing.

Food and horticulture exhibits (such as perishable items and plants) MUST have their entries in to Shelby by tomorrow at 5pm. The physical items do not need to arrive to the office until August 25th from 7:30 - 8:30am to insure they are as fresh as possible on their arrival at State Fair.

The Union County Fair Jr Market Auction is August 1 starting at 3:30 pm with a buyer's BBQ. The sale will start at 5:15 pm. Come down and support the 4-H & FFA members and fill your freezer with some good quality meat.

If you would like to buy an animal or add money to a 4-H or FFA member please call Ken at 541-786-1788 or email [email protected]. Add-ons will be taken for one week after the completion of the auction.

The auction office will stay open for one hour after the conclusion of the sale.

JOIN US! Saturday August 1st at the UCF grounds for the annual livestock sale! Sale starts at 5:15, with buyer dinner kicking off at 3:30!

Here’s how it works:

✅Purchase animal through the sale

✅Donate to the school of your choice

We have several local schools looking for locally sourced meat to fill their freezers for the coming school year!

UCF Market Weigh-In packets have been updated for 2026 and are available on our website at: https://extension.oregonstate.edu/4h/union/union-county-fair

Please remember that beef may be moved in on 7/28 from 8:00-10:00 am with an optional weigh-in time available between 10:00-11:00 am.

All other livestock will be expected to weigh-in from 4:00-7:00pm, with all animals in place by 7:00pm.

No tack may be moved in until after 2:00pm so as not to disturb the small animal show. If you arrive to move in tack at this time and the show is not yet completed, please refrain from moving your items in so as to not interrupt their show. You can always reach out to Karie Kelley or Shelby Benson to check if the show is completed prior to your arrival.
