In the early morning hours of today, we responded to a structure fire at 1612 7th Street, with no injuries reported and all 42 residents safely evacuated.

Thank you to the 22 members of La Grande Rural Fire Protection District, Imbler Rural Fire Department, Union Fire and EMS and LGFD off-duty personnel that assisted in fire suppression. Thank you to our law enforcement partners, La Grande Police Department and Oregon State Police for assisting with the building evacuation.

Also, we appreciate First Presbyterian Church for opening their doors for the apartment residents to have temporary shelter.

Twins! We would like you to meet the newest members to our family, Brush 47 and Brush 48! Our two new Type 6 wildland engines. Made possible by your generous support! B47 was just completed and placed in service. B48 was finished up in early June and has already responded to several fires in our county as well as mutual aid calls in Umatilla and Wallowa counties. We always say we hope you won’t need us, but are ready if you do. This year unfortunately, it’s not looking very promising for these two to sit comfortably in the bays, so we are glad they are both up and running. Our crews worked hard to get them ready for the season, so that we would be ready to serve you! Thank you so much for helping provide the necessary tools to serve and protect you when you call!
