Many people have asked us, "How can I help?" And here are all the ways you can help those around you:

Give to a food bank. Platefull is not government funded and we run on volunteers (including all of us, founders included)
Do a food drive for canned food, baking items, etc.
Get involved! Find out who people are in need and do something about it! Volunteer! Spread the word!
If you are a person of faith, PRAY!
If your not of faith, no matter; be good neighbors and help!

When I was a child, I was in a musical (not nationally) called "Sam". It was about the story of the Good Samaritan, and there was a song called. "Whose my neighbor?" The song asked, "Whose my neighbor? Are they black or brown or white? Do they go to church on Sunday or to temple on Friday night? Whose my neighbor, here's the answer from above: it's EVERY SINGLE PERSON, because of (Jesus) love" (Because God loves EVERYONE)

Nothing has changed since the 70"s when I sang that song. (Yes, I just gave away my age! Gen X) Maybe the verbiage, maybe the style of music, etc. The intent behind it, that EVERYONE is your neighbor has not. I also watched Mr. Roger's neighborhood as a child, and he included everyone NO MATTER who they were or what color of skin they had.

It's not just people who think like you do, have the same political beliefs (YES, it includes REPUBLICANS and DEMOCRATS), or whether they support whichever President is in office. It's not just people who attend your church, or people who don't EVER attend church. It's not whether you are gay, or straight, or bi, or whatever you want to be. Our neighbors are those who live in and around us in need. It's EVERYONE.

Please take a moment in yourself and ask, have I excluded anyone? Am I seeing people? Am I helping my fellow man? To quote Jesus (Who, please remember, was Jewish),"For where your treasure is, there you heart will be also", Follow the money. See where your money goes. That will be where your heart is.

This is a great time to show others you care! This is a great time to Show Up! This is the time to share, and show love! This is the time to feed those among us who are hungry! Join us in letting people in need feel seen, heard, and that they matter!

Did you know that every Monday morning Sofia and Lisa and a crew of faithful volunteers gather in the Salt House parking lot to do one thing - feed people.

This is the mission of Platefull: to partner with local resources and grocery stores that donate food and help distribute that food to families in need! They aim to foster a community where all people have enough to eat and no one goes hungry.

And Sofia and Lisa will be joining us this Sunday at Salt House share their story and what Jesus shows us in the Feeding of the 4000 (Mark 8:1-13), and to invite us into sharing the good work that Platefull is doing right here, right now!

We are so grateful for our partners, Imagine Housing and all they do to aid others!

August is National Wellness Month β€” a time to celebrate the many ways wellness shows up in our communities, from nutritious meals and mental health support to safe spaces for movement and connection.

At Imagine Housing, wellness is woven into daily life through the support of incredible partners. We're grateful to work alongside community partners such as Platefull, YMCA, IKRON, Hopelink, 4 Tomorrow, An Uncluttered Mind, and KidVantage to support residents' wellness.

Together, we’re building wellness from the ground up β€” one person, one partnership, one community at a time. πŸ’š
