🏀2026 SJVOA Basketball “Golden Whistle” Scholarship Award!🏀

Congratulations to Torres High School Senior #23 J’Lynn Mitchell for being selected as the Female Athlete of the Year!

J’Lynn received a $500 Scholarship, an award, and a BIG time family feast meal certificate courtesy of our official scholarship sponsor .spice.fresno on her special night with her family!

Supervisor of SJVOA Basketball Officials, Omar Musleh is seen presenting the award along with many family and friends!

The award was presented with the following statement:

“The San Joaquin Valley Officials Association Basketball Scholarship was established in 2023 to recognize college-bound high school seniors whose academic and athletic careers have been truly exemplary and whose personal standards and accomplishments are a positive model for others. We fully realize that many student athletes will never play another minute of team sports once this senior season is over, however, almost every student athlete wants to have an opportunity to improve themselves and their future. We want to recognize them for their academic persistence, their athletic dedication, and their community involvement by awarding them this scholarship. We have looked for that student athlete who fits this role. Someone who is a motivational player. Someone who is a leader. Someone who gives their team that spark when they need it. Yet, is someone who gives back to their school and community.”

CVC Women’s Basketball Coordinator of Officials:

Omar Musleh

“I am delighted to serve as the Coordinator of Officials for the Central Valley Conference in Women's Basketball. I come to the CVC with a strong foundation in officiating and a passion for maintaining the integrity of the game, I bring over many years of experience as a basketball referee and leader in sports officiating to my role as the Central Valley Conference Women's Basketball Coordinator of Officials. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a commitment to excellence, fairness, and the continuous development of officiating standards.

As a supervisor, I’m dedicated to mentoring officials, fostering teamwork, and implementing training programs that emphasize rule knowledge, positioning, and professionalism. My goal is to support and develop a high-performing officiating team that upholds the spirit of the game while ensuring a safe and competitive environment for all participants.”
