Bringing Autistic individuals and their families together to create awareness and share resources. This event is being planned to help address those needs.

We are inviting the community to attend a free Autism awareness event on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Benton Franklin Fairgrounds. Our Autism Journey – Better Together Event and Ceremonial Walk will be a journey through various interactive activities including some specially tailored to individuals with Autism. Planned activities include:

-Plenty of sensory-friendly fun such as water table, corn grain table, play-doh station
-Ted Talk-like presentations
-Families affected by Autism may experience a reduced sense of isolation by being among similar families
-Event attendees will experience Autism awareness and education in a fun format
-Connect with local vendors and other service providers in the area
-Participate in a ceremonial and supportive 1/2 mile walk at 12:30 pm
**The walk and t-shirts are a fundraiser for the event. The number of individuals diagnosed with Autism in our area has tremendously increased; and with that, so has the need for resources and services for these families. Autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the United States. Local families are often isolated as they navigate a complex system of diagnostics, treatments, therapies, and educational tools. This is the only event of this kind specific to the Autistic community in the Tri-Cities region. It’s almost that time of year! Yay! Thank you, Mid-Columbia Ballet!🤩

Mid-Columbia Ballet is proud to again present a Sensory Friendly performance of The Nutcracker, in partnership with INCLUDE

We invite individuals with disabilities/special needs and their families to this sensory-friendly performance of the beloved Christmas tradition.

Sensory-friendly accommodations include:
✨️Some audience lighting remains on
✨️Lowered musical volume
✨️An inclusive,"shush-free" environment

This relaxed 75-minute performance has been specially created to serve families with children who have related sensory disorders.

This performance has no cost for families, but we request that each family pre-register. Registration opens November 1st.

Thanks to an amazing Better Together Helping Parent, we have some fun events coming up for our families, and this is the first one!! Please call the front desk to register, 509–7 83–1131, extension 100.

After that, initial 20 free pumpkins, they will be $1-$2! Pizza is first come, especially for our kids and picky eaters. There’s a Mexican food truck on site to order from!😋
