When one of your most special and severe CH kitties gets adopted by the perfect family who absolutely adore his quirky and high maintenance self! Happy birthday Maverick!

Awhile back we were begging for help when our Carter was in kidney failure and losing weight. Our vets are mystified as we didn’t have the ability to hospitalize him so did all the things at headquarters with meds, fluids etc. those are not easy things with some cats and Carter especially. After he finished his regime for 3 weeks, we made the decision that his quality of life was most important. He would no longer come near us or even stay in the same room. Quarantining him would have been more stressful and detrimental.

However, we are so very happy to announce that Carter made the decision to keep going! He’s clinically symptom free, is eating and gaining and after a month he will now come get loved again and running and playing!

We just dropped Maverick off at his new home. It’s the best home ever … I wish I had a pic of their table with the beds, supplies etc that they prepared with! It’s what we all hope for with our special needs …. It’s hard to be sad when you know what a wonderful home they are going to. He will get so much more attention than he gets at out house!

Happy adoption day Maverick!

Sophie and Liam are ready for a home!

These two sweethearts appeared on the side of our co-founder, Rebecca’s house in January, just before the big freeze. They were absolutely feral when we brought them in and we've spent hours and hours working with them. Sophie and Liam are now:
* LOVING all of the snuggles (they really, really love to snuggle)
* Not fans of personal space and will happily join you in the shower
* Patrons of the arts, mostly fine films of fish and birds, and sitting next to me while playing piano
* Want to hang out with the big cats (they haven't met any dogs yet)
* Not great gardeners so houseplants need some protection (this is their only bad habit)
* Bonded and would like to find a home together
* Fully vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped)

If you are interested in meeting them, please just reach out. They aren't on the website yet, but will available through Quirky Cats Sanctuaries.

Maverick joined us over 2 years ago when his owners could no longer care for him. Most Of our kitties are special needs and Maverick is one of those. Having severe CH, he gets carried to his big pellet litter box, he needs support when eating and has legs like big wet noodles!

He’s been up for adoption for 2 years and we often accept that our very special
needs may not ever get adopted which limits our ability for intake, but we are committed!

Not Maverick! A week ago we got an amazing application from a lovely couple and after many many conversations, videos (including how he uses the litter box), we are thrilled that Maverick will going to his new home this weekend!

It just takes one amazing home 💕

Salem, OR
P***y is a 3 yr old
beautiful marbled tabby who was left with her sibling outside a vet clinic. She loves her people and tolerates other cats and dogs too!

She can be very vocal if she wants something but settles in with her motor running once she is happy again!

Things didn’t go so well for Carter today. He’s home and will be getting fluids at home over the next several days. He has a mouth infection and potentially a UTI and his kidneys are completely out of whack. Ideally he would have gone into the hospital for IV fluids for a few days but we just aren’t in a position to do that.

He got diagnostics, fluids at vet, fluids we brought home…a cerenia injection and a covenia injection.. and we have to recheck his values in a week.. the next few days will be key and we are praying he bounces back. Sometimes in rescue we can just do our best.

Over the last decade, I can’t count how much of our personal funds have gone into rescue and vet bills. I wouldn’t change a thing and I’m grateful my calling was to help those have a voice, to give a soft landing place to those who needed it and that we have been able to house over 300 cats and dogs easy over the last several years.

But it comes with a cost. I’m
tired. I have a houseful of unadoptable and special needs cats who I am honored to care for - but also means I don’t get to travel with my husband… I don’t get to sleep in or go to bed really early ..

It’s the road I chose and I love them all…. And I pray Carter can turn this around and we can manage his kidneys.

I’m grateful to those who donate .. every penny helps. For Carter, we raised $50 and his visit today was $300. More bloodwork in a week ..

And he will need more care and management if you want to help..

Please help us support Carter's health journey with Quirky Cats Sanctuaries

Carter's still engaging with his food, and though he's losing weight, his spirit remains high. Bloodwork and diagnostics are crucial to finding the cause of his weight loss, and we're praying to get help cover these expenses.

Given our limited involvement in new intakes, we rarely request donations, but we're facing a critical moment that requires support.

Recent challenges have taken a toll on us financially and emotionally, making any contribution even more precious.

If you're moved to help with Carter's care, every bit counts! You can donate via [email protected] for both PayPal and Venmo, or call Silver Creek Animal under Quirky Cats at (503) 873-5701 to make a donation over the phone.
