Friends, tomorrow's weather is looking a little rough, so we are canceling our Cheshire Walkers hike to Eliza Adams Gorge on 9/1/26.

Happy Monday from Temple where we have some great news for local farmland and wildlife: Over 41 acres of prime agricultural soil and beautiful wildlife habitat is now forever conserved in Temple, New Hampshire!

This property, located on the north side of Cutter Road in Temple, has been owned by Julie McAdoo and Tim Winship since 1986. Julie and Tim ran a commercial farm on the land for many years before retiring in 2018. Much of this land boasts excellent soil for agriculture and includes forested acres where Julie and Tim tell us they have seen a variety of wildlife over the years including bobcats, moose, bears, and deer. Thank you, Julie and Tim, for working with us to conserve this excellent agricultural land!

Happy Tuesday from the Cheshire Walkers - our walking group for seniors or anyone who prefers a slower pace with plenty of socializing - which is returning for the Fall season!

Join naturalist and community engagement manager, Katherine Witte on Tuesday mornings for the fall Cheshire Walkers season. Each Tuesday morning from September through October, we will explore hiking trails in towns across the Monadnock region. We'll look for interesting natural features and wildlife, meet new people, and get our steps in.

Join Kate McKay, avian technician with the Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District for a free Zoom program on Tuesday, August 11, from 7–8 p.m. Learn about the challenges facing these iconic birds, practical habitat management strategies, and the Connecticut River Valley Grassland Bird Project, which provides free site visits, management recommendations, and financial support for participating farmers and land managers in southwestern New Hampshire and southeastern Vermont.
