June is Men’s Health Month. 💙

Mental health is health. Yet too many men feel pressure to stay silent, “tough it out,” or carry the weight alone.

This month, let’s challenge the stigma by checking in with ourselves and each other. A simple conversation, a listening ear, or reaching out for support can make all the difference.

🗣️ It’s okay to talk.
🤝 It’s okay to ask for help.
💙 It’s okay to not be okay.

Together, we can create a culture where strength is measured not by silence, but by the courage to seek support.

🚭 Today is World No To***co Day.

To***co use remains one of the leading causes of preventable disease and death worldwide. This day serves as a reminder that every step toward a to***co-free lifestyle is a step toward better health, stronger communities, and a brighter future.

Whether you’re thinking about quitting, supporting someone on their journey, or educating youth about the risks of ni****ne and to***co, your actions make a difference.

Together, we can help create a healthier Kearny, one choice at a time.

When we understand mental health challenges can be at the root of addiction, we start asking 'how can we help?’ with no judgement. That question alone can make a big difference. https://www.samhsa.gov/find-support

Even though the weather isn't the best in New Jersey, Memorial Day weekend typically marks the unofficial start of summer, a season of celebrations, vacations, and gatherings. It’s also an important time to remind our communities that nothing justifies underage drinking.

While underage drinking rates among teens continue to decline nationwide, prevention efforts still matter. Summer months can increase opportunities for risky behaviors, making awareness, communication, and community involvement more important than ever.

Parents, caregivers, and communities all play a role in prevention by:
✔️ Setting clear expectations
✔️ Modeling healthy behaviors
✔️ Having open conversations with youth
✔️ Never providing alcohol to anyone under 21

Let’s work together to keep young people safe this summer. Prevention works.

Naloxone (Narcan) can temporarily reverse an opioid overdose by knocking opioids off receptors in the brain and helping restore breathing.

A few important things to know:
• It only works on opioids
• It won’t harm someone if opioids aren’t present
• Its effects are temporary — always call 911 and seek medical care
• More than one dose may be needed with fentanyl or other potent opioids

Carrying naloxone saves lives. Education saves lives too.
