🗳️The final day to vote in the November midterm election is just 70 days from today. Democracy is not dead, but we ALL need to fight to keep it alive. NOW is the time to step up and get involved.

🌊We need to vote — and work — like our lives depend on it. Because they do. We need to win by margins that are too big to rig. That means a massive voter turnout & a huge number of volunteers. That means YOU!

Here are 3 things you can do right now to get ready:

This is truly unfortunate! We have money for fake wars. But nothing for Americans who need it the most. 😔

This is racialized abandonment. This is colonial abandonment. This is what “America First” has always meant: some Americans first—and everyone else can fend for themselves in the dark.

Remember Trump’s rally speaker calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage”? That was not a random comedian going rogue. It was the entire worldview, stripped of its dog whistle and said out loud: some Americans are trash. Some places are disposable. Some disasters are not worth a presidential sentence, a federal mobilization, or the basic dignity of acknowledgment.

This is the policy underneath the cruelty: hollow out FEMA, shift responsibility onto states and local governments, then watch communities with the fewest resources drown in bills, heat, darkness, contaminated water, and grief. They are seeing how long people can be left without power, water, food, medicine, or help before the country notices.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party are testing the limits of abandonment. They are testing what happens when the federal government looks at diverse Democratic states—and decides the disaster response can be silence, paperwork, “self-reliance,” and a shrug. And before someone starts with “Indiana voted for Trump,” spare us. Gary did not. Gary is not Indiana’s white, Republican political establishment. The people suffering inside a majority-Black city do not become less worthy of help because state maps are colored red.

So let’s stop dancing around it: racism is not incidental to this administration’s indifference. It is foundational to it.
