The Weekley Legacy Project was grateful to be present at the Emerging Leaders Summit to End Gun Violence. It was meaningful to witness young leaders in Kalamazoo County come together to share their experiences, build connections, and engage in impactful dialogue.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of such an important space and look forward to continuing to support and uplift youth in our community.

We were happy to attend the HBCU Fair and connect with students thinking about their next steps.

It was great to see the energy, curiosity, and ambition in the room. Moments like this really highlight how important exposure and opportunity are.

WLP members Chenia and Zonterio were also able to represent their respective Divine Nine Greek organizations (Sigma Gamma Rho & Omega Psi Phi).

We were grateful to be a part of this event and support the next generation! 🎓

The Weekley Legacy Project was grateful to be out supporting Barbara’s Foundation at their first annual giveaway here in Kalamazoo.

It was a meaningful day honoring Barbara Jean Brown and being able to give back to members of our unhoused community. From hygiene kits to food and just being present, it all matters.

We appreciate one of our own, Cartier Brown, and his organization Barbara’s Foundation for putting this together and allowing us to be a part of it. Looking forward to continuing to support efforts like this across our city.

Kalamazoo, we’re stronger when we show up for each other.

It was an honor to spend time with the team at Kalamazoo Youth for Christ and see the impact they’re making up close. The energy, the intentionality, and the heart behind what they do for young people in our city is real.

Thank you for opening your doors and allowing us to be part of the experience. We appreciate the work you’re doing and look forward to continuing to build alongside you.

Grateful to have been in the room today for the Blueprint for Peace: End Gun Violence Summit here in Kalamazoo. Held by the Michigan Transformative Collective.

Moments like this remind me that real change happens when community members, leaders, and organizations come together with one shared goal of protecting our youth and building safer neighborhoods. The conversations were honest. The solutions were intentional. And the commitment to peace was real.

We all have a role to play. Proud to stand alongside those doing the work.

We’re proud to officially share that KNAC is now the Fiscal Sponsor of The Weekley Legacy Project.

So what does that actually mean?

In simple terms — it means we now have 501(c)(3) nonprofit backing through KNAC while our own independent 501(c)(3) application is currently pending with the IRS.

This allows us to legally and responsibly accept tax-deductible donations right now, without slowing down our mission.

Here’s what this means moving forward:

• Future donations made to support The Weekley Legacy Project are tax-deductible
• Funds are managed with nonprofit oversight and financial accountability
• We can apply for grants and pursue larger funding opportunities
• We operate under established nonprofit compliance standards

This is a major structural step for us. It strengthens our foundation and gives donors confidence knowing contributions are protected, transparent, and mission-focused.

And to be clear — we are still in the process of securing our own 501(c)(3) status directly through the IRS. The fiscal sponsorship allows us to keep building, serving, and awarding scholarships while that review is pending.

No delays. No pause in impact.

More scholarships.
More programming.
More opportunity for Kalamazoo students.

We appreciate KNAC for partnering with us and believing in the vision as we continue building this the right way — sustainable, compliant, and built to last.

If you’ve been looking for a moment to support, this is a strong one.
