There are two free community chipping events coming up this summer.... July 11th and August 8th. Cal Fire personnel will be at the Julian High School/Library parking lot from 9 am to 1 pm to chip your cut vegetation. Everyone in the Julian, Wynola and Cuyamaca areas are welcome!

▪️Please NO large rounds or large diameter tree trunks.
▪️The crew must be able to pick the material up; there will not be a chainsaw on site to cut into smaller pieces.
▪️Please NO poison oak/ivy/sumac or materials with a bug infestation.
▪️Residents must bring the materials to be chipped to the site; we will not be able to go around & collect it.

First on the Scene Training Today at the Julian Library…….

Today’s First on the Scene training, held at the Julian Library, was offered free to the public and provided community members with valuable hands-on emergency response education.

We were especially excited to have participants of all ages attend, including our youngest trainee, who was just 6 years old, a local high school student, and several community members. It was inspiring to see people come together to learn valuable life-saving techniques and gain the confidence to help during an emergency.

A special thank you to American Medical Response and CAL FIRE for providing this training and sharing their expertise with our community. Your commitment to education and public safety helps make Julian and our backcountry communities stronger, safer, and more prepared.

Thank you to everyone who attended and invested their time in learning skills that could one day save a life. ❤️🚑

Many people know Backcountry Communities Thriving for our free food pantry, but we wanted to share a little more about what we do for our rural community.

BCT helps support children, families, seniors, and individuals throughout Julian and the surrounding backcountry communities through:
• Free food pantry access
• Clothing and household support
• Community resource referrals
• Student and family assistance
• Community outreach and events
• Emergency/basic needs support when possible

Our Backcountry Connections thrift shop helps make these programs possible. Every donation, purchase, and volunteer hour helps us continue giving back locally.

In a rural community, access to resources can be limited, and we are proud to help fill some of those gaps however we can.

Thank you to everyone who shops, donates, volunteers, and supports our mission.
