There is no way I could fit into this little square all the pure joy, love and beauty that defined our girls’ camp weekend but I will attempt to give you a glimpse.
We had 15 precious campers, and 7 amazing volunteers.
From canvas painting to conquering fears and campfire worship led by Lydia, every moment was special and each girl shone in their own beautiful way! Devotions in the chapel reminded us not to worry, but to trust in God's provision (Matt. 6) and we each picked temporary flower tattoos to “consider the lilies.”
Camp is a time to cut off from the cares of this world and reset together through breathing fresh air, moving our bodies, laughing and soaking ourselves in God’s beautiful creation and His truth found in scripture.
This weekend we all experienced that and more. It is a gift and honor to be in this space with these children, giving them time to lay down their worries and be kids,
because for some of them their childhood has been stolen by pain and trauma.
I’m reminded to become like children for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them- and to me camp feels like a slice of heaven on earth 🤍
“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”
Luke 18:16
A huge thank you to Gracie, Lydia, Ruthie, Lola, Domoniquie, Liz, and Karen for pouring your love into these girls. What a truly wonderful group of volunteers to spend the weekend with!
