XENA WARRIOR PUPPY
On 09/15/2012, Xena came into Dekalb Animal Services in Georgia as a stray after someone called regarding a stray puppy found in their yard. An officer picked up the puppy and arrived at the shelter around closing time with this girl. We gave her fluids and nutrical, and a wonderful volunteer took her home. She rushed Xena to her vet & by that time, the little miracle had alrea
dy perked up. In any case, Xena is now safe and we hope that she continues to improve with TLC. Xena was adopted 03/25/2013. She has a wonderful family (human and canine alike), but has the special task of providing comfort to her human brother Jonny who has autism. Old FAQ's from when she was rescued:
FAQS
Is she part of a rescue group? The volunteer who is fostering Xena is with Friends of DeKalb Animals. This is the group covering Xena’s medical expenses
Can I adopt her? She is currently not available for adoption because of her condition. She is in great hands & getting the medical attention & love she needs. If an owner is found, so cruelty charges can be pressed, Xena will have to stay in her foster home until the case is settled. If you are looking to adopt, please take a look at the amazing, needy animals at your local shelter! What kind of dog is she? She appears to be a American Staffordshire Terrier Mix
How old is she? As of 9/16/2012, she is approximately 4 months old
What are the cuts on her face? Our best guess is that she was kept in a crate and starved. The cuts may be from her trying to escape the crate. What is wrong with her skin/will her fur grow back? She has a skin infection and hair loss from poor nutrition and her previous living conditions. With proper nutrition and antibiotics all of her fur should grow back in time. What did the vet say? Will she make it? Xena has made several trips to the vet, had bloodwork, and urinalysis run. All signs thus far point to her pulling through this. There are no major issues that we can tell, she's eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, and gets stronger by the day. Can I send donations? Jonny and Xena's Spread the Words Foundation
