We are honored to come together to celebrate the life of Zakaria Bel Qaid on Saturday, June 6. ❤️

We’ll meet at Midway at 3:00 PM and walk Crossover to the top of Standard Park, a place that meant so much to Zakaria and where he spent countless hours doing what he loved most. Some of our favorite memories of him were made there, from his huge smile at the top of the park to watching him absolutely crush it on his skis. We’ll spend time together sharing stories, laughs, and memories before walking back down around 5:00 PM.

Afterward, everyone is invited to continue the celebration at Stowe Cider from 5:00–7:00 PM for food, drinks, and time together. All ages are welcome.

We’ll also be collecting written memories for Zakaria’s family. Whether it’s a funny story, a favorite moment, or simply something you want them to know, we encourage everyone to share. These messages will be turned into a book for them to keep forever.

More information will also be shared soon about a future rail jam held in Zakaria’s honor. Through this event, we hope to raise money for a scholarship in his name to help kids in our community achieve their dream of going to Nationals, something Zakaria loved and truly thrived at.

At only 9 years old, Zakaria left an unforgettable impact on this community. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating his life, his spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. ❤️ if you have any questions feel free to reach out.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing NVT moms 💐

Thank you for everything you do — from volunteering at comps, standing out in the cold for hours, cheering on not only your own kids but every rider on the hill, and supporting us through every high and low. NVT and the USASA community would not be the same without you.

You are the heart of this community and the reason it feels like family. We couldn’t be more thankful for the mom squad and everything you do behind the scenes to make these memories possible. ❤️

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of one of our favorite skiers, Zakaria.

Zakaria made a lasting impact on the Northern Vermont ski community, from the smiles he brought to the quiet words of encouragement before dropping in, then sending it off jumps and landing his signature 360s and 540s.

Less than a month ago, Zakaria became the USASA National Champion in halfpipe and ski cross, a reflection of his talent, drive, and the passion he poured into skiing every day.

We would often mess up Zakaria’s name, but he was always patient with us and would gently and politely correct us. We always made sure to correct ourselves afterward, because he deserved that respect in every space he was in. He was always taking laps with kids after comps, sharing time, encouragement, and love for the sport, and he was an amazing older brother to his sister Nora.

We also want to give a special shoutout to his mom, Renee, for being such an important part of our community and for all the love and support she’s always shown.

His parents are asking that all fundraiser funds be directed to his ski team, Green Mountain Academy. The donation link can be found in Zakaria’s Instagram bio.

He will be forever missed and will always hold a special place in the Northern Vermont community that can never be filled. ❤️

We will keep everyone posted on a celebration of life for him for his NVT community.
