Received an email from a photographer that took these photos some years back (early to mid 90s), and was looking for more information on them; he's compiling a book of his photography, and would like to know if any or all of these are still standing.

Thought this a good opportunity for our followers to flex their knowledge, and we can all learn something along the way.

Poet Robert Frost was born in San Francisco on this day in 1874. He sold his first poem in 1894 ("My Butterfly. An Elegy"), and eventually moved to New Hampshire and England before landing in Shaftsbury, Vermont in the 1920s.

Between 1921 and 1962, he taught at Breadloaf in Middlebury, and maintained strong connections to Vermont. After his death in January 1963, he was buried in Bennington's Old Bennington Cemetery.

Here's an image of Frost from the National Portrait Gallery, taken in 1955 by Clara Sipprell.

The latest issue of 'The Cambridge Harkener' has been published and posted to our website!

It's been another packed year for the Cambridge Historical Society—seven public programs, a full slate of collaborations, and a standing-room-only July 4th open house showcasing our historic Masonic Lodge and “Soldiers to Settlers” exhibit.

As 2025 wraps up, we’re already planning 2026 events on local schoolhouses, the Burlington & Lamoille Railroad, the Cambridge Greenway, and more, plus our December 10 Christmas Party with a Yankee Swap and potluck open to all.

Renew or join today and learn more about upcoming events on our website, and help us preserve and share the stories of Cambridge for the next generation.
