American Legion Navy Club Ship 5

American Legion Navy Club Ship 5 Skipper: Mike Ryno Meetings are every 4th Thursday with dinner at 1900. Bring a dish!

On Friday, October 13, 1775, meeting in Philadelphia, the Continental Congress voted to fit out two sailing vessels, armed with ten carriage guns, as well as swivel guns, and manned by crews of eighty, and to send them out on a cruise of three months to intercept transports carrying munitions and stores to the British army in America. This was the original legislation out of which the Continental Navy grew and as such constitutes the birth certificate of the Navy.

Dear Members and Prospective Members of Navy Club of Missouri Ship No. 5,

We are writing to inform you of an important upcoming meeting where we will discuss the future of our club in Jefferson City, Missouri.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 27 at 7:00 PM at the American Legion Post 5, 1423 Tanner Bridge Road, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

Agenda:
1. Review of Our Founding Principles: The Navy Club was established to maintain and promote a cohesive organization comprised of shipmates who have served in the U.S. Navy, Seagoing Services and other branches of the United States Military. Our goal is to afford opportunities for communication and enjoyment among our members, and to perpetuate the camaraderie developed among those who have served.

2. Membership Recruitment Strategies: We will explore effective methods to attract new members, including enhancing our public relations efforts and leveraging social media platforms.

3. Meeting Conduct and Structure: A discussion on how we conduct our meetings, ensuring they are engaging and beneficial for all members.

4. Benefits of Membership: Highlighting the advantages of being a member, such as access to exclusive events, networking opportunities, and the chance to contribute to preserving naval history.

5. Decision on Club's Future: Based on our discussions, we will make a crucial decision on whether to focus on growth initiatives or consider disbanding the club.

This meeting is pivotal for the future of our organization, and we strongly encourage all current members to attend. We also extend a warm invitation to prospective members who are interested in learning more about our club and potentially joining our ranks.

Your participation and input are invaluable as we navigate this critical juncture. Together, we can honor the legacy of our naval service and ensure the continued success of Navy Club of Missouri Ship No. 5.
Sincerely,
Michael Ryno

Dear Members and Supporters of Navy Club Ship No. 5,

It is with sincere regret that I inform you of our decision not to hold our annual "Super Bowl of Chili" cook-off this year. Our club is currently facing challenges with declining membership, which has impacted our ability to organize this cherished event.

We understand that this cook-off has been a highlight for many on the Saturday before the Super Bowl, and its absence is deeply felt. We are committed to revitalizing our membership and hope to resume this and other events in the future.

Your understanding and continued support of Navy Club Ship No. 5 are greatly appreciated as we navigate this period of transition.

Sincerely,

Michael Ryno
