We are a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one Body of Christ, we welcome They used to say there is "no creed but Christ."

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a community of about 800,000 Christians in 3,800 congregations in the United States and Canada. Two groups of frontier Christians came together in 1832 to form the foundation of today's Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). They shared the view that people should not be excluded from fellowship in the church because they didn't adhere to a particular human-made creed. Today's Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) still thinks that way. We study the Bible to deepen our connection to God through Jesus Christ, and to discover what God wants us to do. We believe that God is calling the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of the 21st century to be a faithful, growing church that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality and a passion for justice. Our mission is to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ, witnessing, serving and loving from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth. We are devoted to strengthening our congregations for this mission. Some Disciples have liberal views. Others have conservative views. But we share the belief that we are united in our faith that "Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, the Savior of the World."

This week, we’ll wrestle with a God who takes injustice seriously, a faith that doesn’t shy away from hard questions, and a community called to live differently. What do God’s justice, our own weakness, and the way we treat one another have to do with each other? Let’s find out as we read together!

My star word is "Hopeful" which has had two faces this year. First I struggled being hopeful looking at the deep, unapologetic political divisions in our country.

On the flip side were so many small ways people put aside politics, rolled up their sleeves, and just got things done for the betterment of their neighbors.

There's hope in that.

It's time for another Hike with Pastor Mike! This year we're heading to The Adventure Center of the Great River Council of Scouting America in Columbia to take on the climbing wall! Scoutmaster Rich Green, who will help make this a fun adventure for everyone.

* Date: Sunday, November 8
* Departure: We'll leave the church at 11:30 AM and caravan to Columbia.
* Lunch: We'll enjoy lunch together on the grounds when we arrive.
* Activity: Climbing Wall at The Adventure Center
* Location: 6081 West Van Horn Tavern Road, Columbia, MO
* Return: We'll be back at church around 4:00 PM.

All ages are welcome! Children through fifth grade must be accompanied by an adult.

And, you don't have to climb to come along! Whether you're climbing or cheering from the ground, there's a place for you!

This week, we’ll hear Habakkuk wrestle with injustice, Zephaniah warn of judgment and promise restoration, and Jeremiah deliver some difficult messages to God’s people. Along the way, Paul writes about generosity, reconciliation, and the surprising relationship between strength and weakness.
