Speak up if a friend is about to make an unsafe choice. Don’t let someone ride with an impaired driver. Help a friend find a safe way home. And when a situation is more than you can handle, get help from a trusted adult.

Protecting your people might feel uncomfortable in the moment, but being a good friend sometimes means being the one who steps in.

Before homecoming starts, start talking.

Talk about where you’re going, who you’ll be with, transportation, parties, expectations, and what happens if you need help. Create a code word you can text or say when you need an excuse to leave without having to explain why.

One conversation before the celebration can make asking for help a lot easier when it matters.
