HIV is primarily spread through unprotected s*x, sharing needles, or from mother to child during childbirth. It’s important to know that HIV is not spread through casual contact like hugging, kissing, or sharing food.

Education is key in reducing transmission and promoting prevention. 💡

Today is National Awareness Day. Because of effective treatments, people living with HIV are also aging with HIV; something we never thought would happen at the beginning of the epidemic. According to the CDC, over half of the population of PLHIV are over the age of 50. Because of this fact, it is imperative that we reevaluate laws and policies that affect our lives, including HIV criminalization, housing opportunities, and Medicare.
