Cat love is gentle and quiet, but anyone who has felt it knows how real it is. It lives in the slow blink, the soft head bump, and the silent way they stay close when your heart needs comfort. 🐾❤️

"I’m not Purr-Fect!"

Hi I’m Lucy. I came to MKRA a fews years back when someone threw me from a car onto a lawn. The nice people who lived there thought I was a T-shirt because I wasn’t moving. When they brought me to Kitty Rescue, I couldn’t even stand up. But the nice folks at MKRA got me the vet care that I need and nursed me back to health. I still have some ongoing back problems, so I can’t be picked up. I also can’t jump up on furniture or use a traditional litter box… I now use puppy pads instead. I do love to be brushed and pet … most of the time :) I’m also on a 1/2 of a capsule of gabapentin in my food every evening to help with the pain. If I had one fault it’s that I’m not very fond of other cats and I get nervous when people sneak up on me. It’s truly unnerving for me to all of a sudden see feet beside me, so sometimes I get scared and lash out as a warning. It’s not to be aggressive just to let you know I wasn’t expecting someone beside me. They estimate I’m somewhere over 15 years old. I’m not on a special diet and I’m a pretty easy going old gal if I do say so myself. I have my own room at the rescue, but it might be nice to spend my golden years in a home. I know I’m not many peoples first choice for an Ideal cat, but maybe somebody out that would consider taking a chance on me even if… I’m not purr-fect!”

Cats do not give themselves to everyone.

That is what makes it feel so special when one keeps returning to the same place, the same presence, the same quiet.

No big display.
No announcement.
Just a cat who decides where they feel safest and keeps choosing it.

And little by little, you realize you were not just nearby.

You were chosen as their person.

A cat’s love language is rarely loud.

It’s the little weight pressed against you when they choose your side.
The paw resting on your arm like it belongs there.
The purr you feel before you even hear it.

They may never say the words, but they have their own way of showing them.

And when a cat loves you like that, you know.
