🌸🏳️‍🌈It's time for a Pride Month Pantry Drive! Ready! Set! Shop! 🌸🏳️‍🌈

Throughout the month of June, we’re shining a light on the Food & Hygiene Pantry we maintain in support of LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults experiencing homelessness in Northeast Florida. 🏠💜 The need is urgent -- items fly off our shelves as young people rely on JASMYN for food, hygiene supplies, and other daily essentials.

Right now, LGBTQIA+ youth are facing increasing uncertainty, with harmful legislation creating fear and the potential for fewer resources. As policies shift, we want to ensure our pantry is fully stocked so we’re prepared for anything. Your donations help us provide security and stability for the young people who need it most.

May 24 is Pansexuality and Panromantic Visibility Day. 💗💛💙

Today we bring recognition to those who identify as pansexual and panromantic. Pansexuality is the sexual attraction to people regardless of gender, while being panromantic is having the ability to feel romantic attraction regardless of gender. Pan individuals are attracted by the person before anything else such as gender identity. This doesn't mean that they're attracted to everyone, but rather that they have the capacity to feel attraction for anyone, without gender being a factor at all.

On May 22, we honor the life and legacy of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay politician in California and a leader in the American Civil Rights Movement.👏🏳️‍🌈

Time Magazine included Harvey Milk on a list entitled “The 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century.” Milk was not only an advocate for the LGBT community, but for all minorities. May 19 is National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, founded to raise awareness about the impact of HIV and AIDS-related stigma in Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Today is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day - also known as World AIDS Vaccine Day - a day to recognize the volunteers, community members, and researchers working to find a safe and effective vaccine to prevent HIV. The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is a day to draw attention to the homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia still faced by so many LGBTQIA+ people around the world. May 17 was chosen as the annual day for because it is the anniversary of the World Health Organization’s declassification of same-sex attraction as a mental disorder, which happened in 1990. Human rights defenders across the globe are getting the word out that discrimination, violence, and inequity against ANYONE under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella is unacceptable. This a day to recognize the progress made in the fight for global + human rights. Help spread the word in your corner of the world!
