Congratulations to RW Mercer Jackson Junior Golf Tour alum Josh Baker who recently passed his 36-hole Playing Ability Test at Katke GC in Big Rapids, an important step in the journey to earning PGA certification!
We can't wait to see where this journey takes him, and to be able to say "We knew him when ..."
Good luck, Josh!

The RW Mercer Jackson Junior Golf Tour will be well-represented at next weekend’s MHSAA State Girls Golf Finals!
Some will be at the Oct. 16-17 Finals as members of qualifying teams while others qualified individually. Still, others failed to qualify after shooting great scores!
Qualifying teams in a Division 4 Regional at Calderone GC were Grass Lake (Regional Champs) and Napoleon. Katelyn Ault of Napoleon was medalist with an 88 while teammate Avery Rhodes shot a runner-up 93. Grass Lake was led by Emma Troyer’s 99.
Those who qualified individually at Calderone GC, include Columbia Central’s Maddy Truax (105) and East Jackson’s Rachael McArthur (105).
In the D4 Regional at Cascades, Lumen Christi qualified with a second-place finish, led by Peyton Best’s 88. Qualifying individually was Concord’s Haley Stimer (95).
The D4 qualifiers will play at The Meadows GC in Allendale.
In a D2 Regional at Ypsilanti, our Dave Gilpin Player of the Year recipient Leighton Diesing shot 82 to qualify individually for Chelsea. At that same event, Northwest’s Maycee Lewis (96) qualified by eliminating Jackson’s Emery Waldron (96) in a tense, sudden-death playoff.
The D2 Finals will be at Forest Akers GC in East Lansing.
Lansing Catholic won a D3 Regional in Williamston, sending Mercer Tour player Katelyn Melling (103) to the Finals at Katke GC in Big Rapids.
Other top performances from our Mercer Tour players at Regionals include:
- Michigan Center’s Mallory Gilson who shot 88 at Wheatfield Valley GC in a D3 Regional.
- Hanover Horton was led by Ashlynn Manning who shot 107 at Cascades GC.
- Western was led by Charlotte Walz who shot 101 at Pine View GC in Ypsilanti in a D2 Regional.

On Sunday (9/20/26) we gave some much-deserved recognition to some of our Tour players at the Jackson Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Sharp Park GC.
Brayden Norton and Leighton Diesing received their 2026 Dave Gilpin Player of the Year Awards.
Western High School senior Alex Davis received scholarships in memory of Patrick Campbell and from The Jeremy Rothenberger Foundation.
Leighton Diesing, a senior at Chelsea High School, also received a scholarship from The Jeremy Rothenberger Foundation.
Recent Napoleon High School graduate Anna McCubbins received scholarships in memory of Patrick Campbell, as well as the Gilpin/Dirlam Scholarship. Her father, Don McCubbins, accepted the awards on her behalf as she was preparing for a college event as a member of the Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team.
Recent Chelsea High School graduate Emma Ruszkiewicz received the Deer Run Golf Course Scholarship, but was unable to attend the ceremony.
Special thanks to Board member Tobin Dunigan for presenting our awards!
It was a great way to wrap up a fantastic 2026 season!

Congratulations to the Jets' Jake Brafford, named the MCCAA Western Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week! Brafford made his college debut at Grayling Country Club, firing a three-under-par 70 in his first collegiate tournament. What a way to start!

Congratulations to Genevieve, one of our Mercer Tour regulars!
Great shot, Ace!

Parma Western's Genevieve Davis hit the shot of a lifetime on Monday (9/14) in an I-8 League event at Marywood GC in Battle Creek!
She aced the 98-yard fourth hole with her 9-iron!
Genevieve did not see it disappear into the hole, and upon reaching the green assumed it had rolled off the back. Spectators, however, told her to check the hole. She was both surprised and shocked!
Coached by Teresa Nagy, Genevieve shot 106.
Congratulations, Genevieve!
