Too many pit bull–type dogs are brought into a world that doesn't have enough homes for them.

Spaying and neutering helps prevent unplanned litters and reduces the number of dogs entering already overcrowded shelters.

This year, we’re shining a special light on metastatic breast cancer (MBC)—Stage IV breast cancer, which currently has no cure.

Pit bull–type dogs are often judged by stereotypes before they're given a chance.
But a dog's behavior is influenced by genetics, socialization, training, environment, and individual experiences.

Judge the dog in front of you, not the stereotype.

In Response to the Pittie Project PNW - A Reminder of Who We Are ❤️

As many of you may have seen, there is heartbreaking news surrounding an organization called Pittie Project PNW in Washington State. Our hearts are broken for the dogs involved and for everyone who has been affected by what has happened. Situations like this are exactly why we exist, as our mission is to advocate for the breed and ensure these horrible circumstances do not happen.

We want to take a moment to remind our community of who we are—and who we have always been.

The Pittie Project, Inc. is a New Jersey-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 2016 and rooted right here in our NJ communities. From the very beginning, our purpose has been prevention: getting into communities, educating owners, and providing financial assistance for spay/neuter, vaccinations, and microchipping for pit bull-type dogs to help prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of bully breeds entering shelters.

We are not a rescue. We have never been a rescue. And we have never been affiliated with Pittie Project PNW. We are completely independent organizations with no connection to one another.

For nearly a decade, our work has been built on one simple belief: spay and neuter saves lives. We are proud of the relationships we have built with NJ families, veterinary clinics, shelters, community partners, supporters, and volunteers who have helped us make a difference for hundreds of dogs.

While we are deeply saddened by the recent news involving Pittie Project PNW, we want our supporters to know that The Pittie Project, Inc. remains exactly who we have always been—an independent New Jersey nonprofit dedicated to our mission, our community, and the dogs and families we serve.

Thank you to everyone who has stood beside us since the beginning and continues to believe in what we do. ❤️
