Good information for training teams to share from Mark Griffin!
The annual refresher course for Safeguarding Youth training is now available in the My.Scouting Learn Center. If you have completed the full 90-minute Safeguarding Youth course, this course will keep your required Safeguarding Youth training current.
If you have not taken the full Safeguarding Youth training you are still able to take the refresher, but it will not give you credit for completion, nor show that you have taken the refresher in your training record. You must take the full Safeguarding course first.
To find the course, after logging into My.Scouting, click on the Scouting U logo (on the right below the Safeguarding Youth logos) and then "Catalog." Search for "Safeguarding" and the course will show up.
The course is listed as 20 minutes, but including the test at the end of the course, it takes just over 30 (without pausing where suggested.)
There is no "pause" icon. If you click on the video it will pause and start again when you click the video again.
At the top of the page there is a "Return to Safeguarding Youth Refresher Details" arrow. If you choose that it will take you back to the Catalog entry for the course and you will have to start again at the beginning.
If you do not score 80% or better on the test you will be directed to the full 90-minute course and cannot take the refresher.
Not all of the questions in the test are from the refresher. Some are from the full version.
Some of the questions change each time the course is taken, as does the order of some of the answers.
Completion will credit you for one more year from the date you complete the course, not from your previous expiration date.
If you do not take the refresher prior to seven days after your previous expiration date, you will need to take the full course to maintain your Safeguarding Youth training complete status.
Upon successful completion, your training record will be updated to reflect training code Y01, the date you completed the training, and your new training expiration date.
