An updated curriculum for the Wood Badge Course Director Conference has been rolled out by Scouting U. The updated conference is designed to help prepare course directors to conduct the best possible Wood Badge courses. The curriculum includes new sessions, updated sessions, and information about updates to the course itself.

Course directors, backup course directors, and staff advisors of upcoming courses can find, and register for, upcoming 2026 course director conferences on the Scouting U Wood Badge / NYLT Course Director Conference Registration page.

Registration sites will remain open until either the available registration spots are filled or noon (MST) on the Monday before the course start, whichever occurs first. Weather can change in an instant. Are you prepared to make the right decision when it does?

Whether you're planning a weekend campout, a day hike, a service project, or a high-adventure trek, weather is one of the most significant factors affecting Scouting activities.

Merging Member IDs is now live in My.Scouting.

We will now be able to merge our member IDs that have been created across different councils (or the same council in some cases) or the National Council. We can merge these down to one single, surviving member ID that will follow us across our registrations. It will also merge training records under one member ID.

To start this process, you will need to navigate to “Manage Member ID” in My.Scouting.

Be patient for the results, the merger is an overnight process.

The Scouting Alumni Training Committee has officially released comprehensive updates to its online alumni training curriculum, modernizing the previous (2022) course modules to reflect current organizational standards, structure, and branding.

Encourage volunteers and key stakeholders to complete these refreshed, on-demand modules, which continue to count toward fulfilling the requirements for the Scouting Alumni Award.

Courses may be found in My.Scouting in the Volunteer Learn Center (click on the Scouting U logo). The catalog search keyword is "Alumni."

If you were able to attend one of the recent ScoutConnect technology webinars (if you did not, a recording will soon be available on the Scouting America Tech Hub) you saw the news that soon those of us who have multiple Scouting America Member IDs will be able to merge them in our My.Scouting account. (And a lot more!)

This merger will connect any training data attached to each of those Member IDs (with a clear connection) into one record and will give us one Member ID.

In the initial phase, each Scouter will be able to do the merger themselves in My.Scouting, in part to be sure each record that appears is actually your record and one you would like to keep. In the second phase, council registrars will be able to merge records.

Keep in mind that My.Scouting registration records only go back about 26 years - when ScoutNet was introduced - and training records will only contain what has been completed online or what has been entered manually since then.

This merger will work if you have, or have had, a separate registration with different Member IDs in two units, in the council and a unit, in two councils, and/or in a local council and the National council.

Watch your My.Scouting account for more information and for this feature to be released. Information is expected to be found on the My.Scouting landing page in the next couple of weeks.

Scouting U has been working recently with the National Cub Scouting Committee and the National Venturing Committee to update the requirements for the Scouter's Key, the Scouter's Training Award, and the Den Leader Training Award.

Check them out to see if you have earned one of these awards and/or to see if there are other leaders in your unit who should be recognized.
