Today, we’re celebrating two things our community could always use a little more of: kindness and love.

It’s Kindness Day AND National Love People Day!

So check on someone. Help someone. Include someone. Encourage someone.
Most importantly, remind the people around you that they matter.

Because strong communities are built by people who care about people. 🌎💙

Take a look at what your kids are saying! This data helps keep our community and local government informed about the needs of our young people in Estill County.

Here's what the kids are saying about substance use! 👀

In the Spring of 2026, EPIC conducted an anonymous student survey with both the Estill County Middle and High Schools. Students shared their perspectives on a variety of topics: life within the community, family, and school. Substance use, leisure time, well-being, and peer group effects.

This follows up our 2024 student survey. Student responses guide EPIC programming and inform the public and community leaders.

This Kindness Day, we’re celebrating someone who has made kindness a part of her legacy: Dolly Parton.

So today, let’s bring a little more Dolly to Estill County!

Smile at a stranger. Encourage a young person. Support a local business. Help a neighbor. Give when you can.

Kindness doesn’t have to be complicated. It just has to start somewhere. 💛✨

We've had a buddy at the office this Summer! Teagan Crawford has been volunteering his time and talent to build a digital archive of the vintage local newspapers in the collection of the Estill County Historical & Genealogical Society and Museum. Driven by his love for our local history, he has successfully scanned quite a few years of the Irvine Times and Estill Herald from the 1920s and 1930s...one page at a time. He says his goal is to keep at it for as long as it takes to preserve our community's stories up through present day. Thanks for all your hard work, Teag!
