***** A Letter from Ken and Sally*****
Dear Facebook Family & Friends:
We wanted to

share an exciting update about our Soaring Above Ministry. God has made it possible for us to go to the next level in our mission. Our vision has been to open a teen center in downtown Ionia, We have a date to sign the lease on the building April 1, 2015. The teen center has a kitchen, which is awesome, because, we want to be able to provide a third meal program for the youth in need in our county. The teen center will continue the program that started it all; as well as home work rescue, art, music, thespian, how to apply for jobs, how to handle interviews. We want to provide help with banking, paying bills, GED Completion, help plan for college and careers as well as many other programs. The center will have a pool table and other activities to bring the teens off the streets and give them a safe place to hang out with positive leadership. In addition to the main floor of the Teen Center, the building has a second floor which we plan to turn into apartments. These apartments would house kids aging out of the foster care programs, which will be safe housing for them, along with the programs we offer, will help get them start on their path to becoming productive adults. We are excited to see where God takes us in our journey with Soaring Above. Please keep us in your prayers as we go forward with this ministry God has called us to.

Good afternoon everyone. We hope you are doing well. Soaring Above Ionia Teen Center are reaching out asking for some help.
With the rising prices, things are beyond a little tight around here. We are having to cut back on some of the food we provide and are having to make some other cuts as well.
If you have a passion for the teens of Ionia as we do and would like to help please consider becoming a sponsor of a member or some members. Please see the attached flyer and see if there's a way that you can help.
Thank you, and we pray you have a blessed day.

We here, at Soaring Above Teen Center would like to take a moment and thank some amazing people who have recently sponsored some of our members. So thank you to: Jennifer N., Jared B., Gina J., and Susan M.
Between them, they sponsored six members.
Can you help us put the colored placards all the way around our sponsorship board? We're trying to get as many of our members sponsored as possible. We know sometimes a full sponsorship for a member is hard, but even if you can help with $20. We can combine that with others to get a member sponsored. Every little bit helps. Again thank you to all of those who have sponsored members and if you're going to we want to thank you in advance.

So I am a little bit disappointed.
I posted last week that the card in the photo on the top was left on my desk. I expressed how good it made me feel.
However, instead of taking it as the positive that it was meant to be, somebody took the opportunity to bully the girls, because they forgot to put in an "a" in their writing.
Why I'm disappointed is this, the girls took time to let me know how much they appreciate Soaring Above Teen Center and pay me a compliment.
They got bullied because they made a very, very small mistake. Not one that I cared one way or the other about, I loved their heart.
But they felt they had to make the adjustment because of what was said.
It's sad that people are more interested in finding flaws, then they are looking for the good in things or in people's actions.
The negativity shows a lot about their character.
To the girls that wrote this for me and the center, I am extremely proud of you and don't ever let anyone deflate you, or make you doubt the amazing people that you are.
Unfortunately this is what a lot of our culture strives for, finding fault. That's not hard to find.
We all make mistakes, none of us are perfect.
In fact there's only been one perfect being that's ever walked this Earth and He died over 2,000 years ago. Let's spend time looking for the good in people and their actions. Let's work on building people up, not knocking them down.
Let's be grateful, not hateful.
I know sometimes hurting people, hurt other people, but that doesn't make it right.
Today, Let's work on making people smile, not cry. Being a bully is easy, we see it all around us all the time, most of the time we don't even have to try, unfortunately it comes naturally.
It is harder to stand up and do the right thing because it is the least popular of things to do in today's society. And we also know that more times than not, we will get bullied for taking a stand.
There is an old song by Aaron Tippin that says; "If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything."
Let's stand for something good, something positive. Let's be the change, let's be the positive force that wants to make a positive difference.
Just a thought from My Man In The Mirror To The Person In Yours, have an amazing day and God bless.

This was left in my office yesterday.
Some days I think we get so wrapped up in what we do everyday that maybe we forget how blessed we are to be doing what we do. Sometimes I forget the impact that Soaring Above Ionia Teen Center makes daily.
