Starfish Family Services Starfish is a leading provider of high-quality early childhood education, mental and behavioral health services, and whole-family parenting programs.

Our passion is early childhood development. We strive every day to prepare young children for a successful start to school. Our programs and services also uniquely recognize and respect the important role of parents and other caregivers in the long-term success of children. Starfish by the numbers
• Starfish has 16 centers in Wayne County (13 early childhood centers + 3 behavioral health clinics).

We also provide home-based services & telehealth options.
• Each year Starfish serves over 300,000 meals to our enrolled babies and preschoolers (breakfast, lunch, snack).

🚙🩵 43 children riding safely in their new and properly installed car seats!

Through our partnership with Corewell Health, we recently hosted a Car Seat Safety Event at our Starfish Westwood ECE Center.

Families received new car seats matched to each child’s age, height, and weight, while our certified technicians ensured every seat was properly installed and caregivers left with important safety information.

👏 A special thank you to our six Starfish team members who are certified Car Seat Safety Technicians: Chasity Brewer, Tamika Trinity, LaKeba Braswell, Maha Hasan, Kimberly Bracey, and Carolyn Frey.

The support continues long after these community events. Throughout the year, our technicians provide one-on-one assistance to families, helping children travel safely and giving parents greater peace of mind.

☀️ Today, our Early Childhood Education team members gathered at Belle Isle for our 2026 ECE Spring Conference, a well-deserved opportunity to recharge and enjoy time together!

Between the fun yard games, hilarious rounds of tug-of-war, yoga sessions, raffles, and all of the food and laughter under the sun, the afternoon was filled with opportunities to move, relax, reconnect with one another, and reflect on the incredible work happening across our programs.

Thank you to our entire ECE team for helping children learn, grow, and thrive. We are grateful for each of you and proud to celebrate all that you do. 💙

In partnership with Gleaners Community Food Bank, our Food Mobile Pantry provides free, nutritious groceries to families each month.

Families can pick up a variety of items from fresh produce to pantry staples, plus recipes and nutrition tips to support healthy habits at home.

No registration needed. Just stop by, and we will take care of the rest.

Rain, rain… you can stay because our early learners were going to play anyway!

Last week’s rainy weather did not stop the fun within our Early Childhood Education program. Our teachers got creative by setting up a clear outdoor globe tent so the children could still enjoy outside time, laugh together, and experience the rain in a whole new way.

With smiles, excitement, and plenty of energy, our scholars proudly chanted, “Rain, rain, you can stay, we’re gonna play anyway!”

May is Military Appreciation Month, and at Starfish Family Services, we are proud to recognize and honor the service and sacrifice of military members and military families in our community.

Trying new foods can be an adventure, and our early learners are discovering just how colorful healthy choices can be!

Through our partnership with the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan’s Regie's Rainbow Adventure program, children explore fruits and vegetables one color at a time. Each week, our scholars dive into stories connected to the featured color before tasting new healthy foods during their Thursday “rainbow” experience.

From crunchy veggies to juicy fruits, every bite encourages curiosity, confidence, and healthy habits that can last a lifetime. And of course, our little learners proudly earn their colorful “power strip” wristbands for being brave enough to try something new!

Programs like this help make learning fun, hands-on, and meaningful while supporting the healthy growth of the children and families we serve.

PNC Bank brought learning, creativity, and plenty of excitement to our Starfish Marygrove Early Childhood Education Center through their Grow Up Great Backpack Giveaway! 🎒✨

Each child received a backpack filled with supplies, along with hands-on activity kits and a treehouse building set that made the day both fun and memorable. More than just a giveaway, it was an experience designed to encourage exploration, imagination, and learning beyond the classroom.
