⚠️ CARBON MONOXIDE SAFETY REMINDER ⚠️

Your carbon monoxide (CO) detector helps protect you and your family from dangerous carbon monoxide gas, which is colorless and odorless.

If Your Carbon Monoxide Detector Begins Beeping:

✅ If the alarm sounds continuously or in a pattern of 4 beeps followed by a pause:

Move everyone, including pets, to fresh air immediately.
Call 911 or the Fire Department from a safe location.
Do not re-enter your home until emergency personnel say it is safe.
Notify the Housing Office or Maintenance Department as soon as possible.

✅ If the detector chirps once every 30–60 seconds:

This usually means the battery is low or the detector needs to be replaced.
Contact Maintenance immediately so the detector can be checked.
Do not remove, disconnect, or disable the detector.
Important Safety Tips
Test your detector monthly.
Never ignore a carbon monoxide alarm.
Never use ovens, grills, generators, or other fuel-burning devices to heat your home.
Keep vents and appliances clear and properly maintained.

Your safety is our priority. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your carbon monoxide detector, please contact the Inkster Housing Commission 313.561.2600.

Introducing Our New Green Library!
Give a Book. Take a Book.

The Inkster Housing Commission is excited to announce the addition of our new Green Library, conveniently located outside the Inkster Housing Administration Building at 4500 Inkster Road.

The Green Library is a free community resource designed to encourage reading, learning, and neighborly connection. Residents are invited to participate in our simple book-sharing program:

Give a Book. Take a Book.

Whether you are looking for a new story to enjoy, a children's book for your family, or simply want to share a favorite title with others, the Green Library is available to all residents at no cost.

What Is a Green Library?

A Green Library is a community book-sharing box where residents can leave books they no longer need and pick up books they would like to read. The goal is to make reading accessible, promote lifelong learning, and create opportunities for neighbors to share resources with one another.

Benefits of the Green Library

Promotes Literacy

Encourages reading for all ages.
Supports lifelong learning and personal growth.

Builds Community

Connects neighbors through the shared love of books.
Creates opportunities for residents to give back and help others.

Environmentally Friendly

Encourages the reuse and recycling of books.
Helps reduce waste and supports sustainability efforts.

Accessible to Everyone

Free and available to all residents.
Easy to use and available whenever you visit the Administration Building.
How to Participate
Bring a gently used book you would like to share.
Place it in the Green Library.
Browse the collection and take a book that interests you.
Enjoy reading and help keep the library stocked for others.

Together, we can create a stronger, more connected community through the gift of reading.
