Our clean-up at Blue Spruce is this weekend! Will we see you there?

We are hosting another litter clean-up at Blue Spruce Park on Saturday, October 24th! Park in the lot closest to the park office and meet us at 9:00 am to help keep the roads in and around Blue Spruce litter-free! Safety gear, appropriate signage for motorists, and trash bags will be provided.

Friday evening, Evergreen hosted Ranger Doug Bosley for a presentation on the Allegheny Portage Railroad and the Main Line Canal! Special thanks to Doug for an engaging talk about PA history and to all those who attended!

Did you know that Charles Dickens rode the Main Line? Read about his experience in Pennsylvania and his time in America as a young author in "American Notes for General Circulation" (1842).

Last Friday was the closing ceremony for artist Christine Forni's exhibit "Echoes of Evergreen" in Sprowls Hall at IUP. Christine began this beautiful project in 2019 using iron oxide and charcoal harvested from Tanoma Wetlands. IUP student work from her ongoing Drawing Outside series was also featured in the gallery. The ceremony also included a showing of short film "Project Evergreen;" filmmaker James Forni followed Christine's creative process and beautifully highlighted Tanoma Wetlands and the surrounding landscape.

As school starts and summer comes to a close, we're excited to welcome the fall season with our second yearly program featuring a presentation on the Allegheny Portage Railroad and Main Line Canal.

This event is free and open to the public. We look forward to another wonderful presentation with Doug Bosley with the National Park Service.

Relive the greatest historical event 🏙️💧the Great Johnstown Flood on Friday April 10, 2026 at Blue Spruce Lodge beginning at 7 pm. This presentation is sponsored by Evergreen Conservancy, is free and geared to families.

Doug Bosley, Chief of Interpretation/Site Manager of the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site and Johnstown Flood National Memorial will make the presentation. Doug will cover events that led to the Great Johnstown Flood of May 31, 1889. He will give an overview of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club, owners of the South Fork Dam. He will also cover what happened the day of the flood, the aftermath of the flood, the relief efforts, and eventual clean up.
