Happier times with my girl. These things always happen in the evening, middle of the night or a weekend. Layla was fine, ate her dinner and thirty minutes later her belly was distended and rock hard. Classic symptoms of bloat. I am so grateful to:

Dr. Kimball for agreeing to see us … tho we could not make it before closing.

Dr. Willis for making herself available to us after her last appointment.

Dr. Tacia for seeing us and ultimately helping us say goodbye to our sweet girl.

If I counted how many times I have thanked God for these kind compassionate veterinarians it would surely be hundreds.

Until then sweet girl ❤️

When you have a wee wittle head it fits perfectly thru the fence so you can look really sad while begging for food. Peez Weez … rescued from Direct Slaughter Pipeline in Virginia. He would not have shipped to slaughter but he would have been sent to yet another auction.

And lastly (we hope) Ember had a dental yesterday. Not many teeth in there. Two loose teeth that fell out during initial exam, a few sharp edges. She was a handful but all done. Thank you Equine Dental Solutions w/ Katie Herman for giving Ember frequent pauses during the process and getting it done. Now to get going being a grumpy old lady pony …. friends, food and room to roam.

Our 18 + year old doxie girl out for a sniff about. Layla was rescued from an Oklahoma puppy mill eighteen years ago. Adopted once and returned. Here to stay.

Ember got her feet done today and she was a really good girl. Thank you Katie Carroll for your patience and kindness.

Ember is mad. Took her bandage off this morning and she was not a fan. Will turn her out behind the barn by herself. Excede shot Tuesday, farrier Tuesday, dental Oct 30. Should wrap it up for Princess Ember.

All done. She came out of sedation talking up a storm. There appeared to be some cancer behind the eye. Dr Willis did a fantastic job and got it all. So glad this is over. Ember is on her way to brighter painfree days. Thank you to our neighbor Lisa who came down to assist. Thank you to our friends and supporters for the donations, the thoughts and prayers and for standing by us in all we do for the animals we take it.
