Leadership Independence

Leadership Independence Leadership Independence is a unique, collaborative, results-based program committed to the enhancement of the community by developing engaged leaders.

This program was established in 1984 and is sponsored by the Independence Chamber of Commerce. It’s designed to bring together individuals who have interest in community service, motivating and expanding leadership potential existing in the community and to emphasize individual responsibility. Participants will experience a variety of hands –on activities, classroom learning, and meeting their com

munity businesses. The leadership training will be based on modules taught by the Kansas Health Foundation’s Kansas Community Leadership Initiative (KCLI) in partnership with the Kansas Leadership Center to communities throughout the state of Kansas. Participants can expect to take with them leadership tools and skills that one can use at home, at work, and in the community. Along with these, participants develop lasting friendships, build business networks and last but not least get to know their hometown of Independence.
