Every day, too many veterans and service members struggle in silence. That’s why our Post proudly supports Be The One — The American Legion’s nationwide initiative focused on reducing veteran and servicemember su***de and promoting mental wellness.

Be The One is about:
✨ Raising awareness and breaking the stigma around mental health
🧠 Providing free su***de prevention training for communities
🤝 Encouraging Buddy Checks and meaningful connections
💬 Reminding veterans that it’s okay to not be okay — and help is always available

We encourage our members, families, and community to get involved. A simple conversation, a check-in, or learning the warning signs can truly save a life.

🇺🇸 A New Step for the U.S. Space Force

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order beginning the process of establishing a new U.S. Space Academy.

The proposed federal academy would prepare future Space Force Guardians alongside NASA engineers, scientists, and other space professionals. Congressional review and approval will be needed for final establishment and funding.

An interesting new chapter in the future of America’s military and space programs. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Remembering Dolly Parton

The Huntley American Legion joins the nation in remembering Dolly Parton, whose support for our U.S. armed forces was an important part of her remarkable legacy.

From dedicating her For God and Country album to service members and visiting troops during Operation Desert Storm to supporting military families through her Imagination Library, Dolly never forgot those who served.

In 2004, the Tennessee Air National Guard honored her with custom “Miss Dolly” nose art on a KC-135 Stratotanker. She was also recognized by The American Legion with its Good Guy Award.

Her music touched generations, and her support for our military community will also be remembered. Rest in peace, Dolly. 🇺🇸

10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, at Huntley Square.

Join us as the Huntley community comes together to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and honor the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the first responders who answered the call.

The remembrance ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, at Huntley Town Square and will include remarks from community leaders, traditional observances, and a moment of silence honoring those lost on September 11, 2001.

We invite our community to join us as we remember and honor those we lost 25 years ago.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will move to Huntley Fire Protection District Station 1, 11118 Main Street.
