Another farm friend :))

Many of the beings we share this planet with are quite different from us. This praying mantis poked his head down from the roof of farmer Eric’s pickup the other day.
Its movements were quite hard to predict, a combination of incredibly slow and then an abruptly fast scurry.
Farmer Eric captured this moment and shared that it acted as a reminder for him—that humans are an animal among other animals, a creature among others creatures, each with their own ways. And of course Earth does not belong to us. We are part of the mysterious web of creation, much of which we do not understand.

Thank you Eric for sharing this moment of pause and this beautiful reminder. We are sharing this earth and we can only do our best to work in harmony with its other inhabitants ❤️🌎🤝

Striving for a balance of Beauty and Productivity ✨

In one section of the garden we planted zinnias and sunflowers at the edge of each garden bed. 🌸🌻
We love how it not only keeps the farm looking bright but it also attracts the birds and pollinators.

In the back is our 3rd planting this year of lettuce and green onions 😋 coming soon to a local food pantry!

As our 2nd annual Hongik Open House has come to a close, we want to share a comparison of last year’s farm to this year’s!

This last year has been a big year of change, challenges, growth and connection. I know we say this a lot, but we are truly so grateful for our bright and generous community that has come together to help our dreams come true—our dream of a farm that not only nourishes the body, but the mind and spirit of all who accept its offerings 🥰

And of course a huge thank-you to the board members who make this all possible, including our dedicated and talented farmer, Eric.

It truly does take a village 😉
