Together, we turned moments into impact.

Because of the Marshall University community, Dance Thunder raised $10,478.60, with 100% of funds donated to MHN Foundations to support children and families fighting cancer at Hoops Family Children's Hospital.

This year was made possible by the students, partners, volunteers, and supporters who showed up and made a difference. From Greek Week fundraising to campus and community partnerships, every effort contributed to something bigger than one day.

For Braden Cotton, a sophomore in Marshall University’s Nursing ASN program, college has never been just about classes. It’s been about perseverance, purpose and showing up even when life feels overwhelming.

Before coming to Marshall, Braden admits he wasn’t always the strongest student. But once he arrived, something changed. Now, Braden is deeply involved across campus by serving as vice president of the National Marrow Donor Program and director of internal operations for Dance Thunder, Marshall’s 12-hour dance marathon supporting children with cancer. He’s excelling academically, building community and shaping a future rooted in care for others. But behind that success is a story of resilience.

Read more about Braden’s story and how his involvement has shaped his Marshall experience.

Dance Thunder was honored to receive the Outstanding New Student Organization Award yesterday at the Marshall University Student Affairs Leadership & Service Awards!

This award recognizes a new student organization that has made an immediate and meaningful impact on Marshall University and the student body. The organization has identified and addressed a previously unmet need or community issue through creative, innovative, and sustainable programming that enhances campus life.

Leadership members Emily Price, Braden Cotton & Braley Poff were proud to accept the award on behalf of the 2025-26 Dance Thunder leadership team.

But, the night didn’t end there. Dance Thunder’s Executive Director, Emily Price, was awarded the 2025-2026 Sophomore Leadership in Action Award!

This award recognizes a second-year student who has continued to demonstrate initiative and engagement in student organizations. The recipient shows growing leadership skills and a strong commitment to contributing meaningfully to campus life.

These accomplishments would not have been possible without our partnerships with MHN Foundations, Marshall University Fraternity and Sorority Life & the Marshall University LEAD Center. Your support and guidance was essential to our successes this year!

Dance Thunder is honored to accept these awards, and cannot wait for the next chapters of our organization. 💚
