Yesterday, eight volunteers walked through the gates of the Byrd Unit to share a simple but powerful message: Freedom Starts on the Inside.
We faced a few challenges along the way. Delays getting into the unit, technical issues, and even a missing cable threatened to derail parts of the day. But God was faithful, and everything came together when it mattered most.
The greatest blessing wasn't found in the schedule, the music, or even the message. It was the fellowship. Most of this team had never served together before, yet they operated like a seasoned ministry team. Everyone stepped up, adapted, encouraged one another, and stayed focused on the mission.
Kevin Hrebik served as emcee and opened with prayer. Jay Kimberly gave an exhortation from Scripture, Timothy "Doc" Dueñes, and Cameron Sessums shared powerful testimonies of God's faithfulness. Cameron also blessed us with several songs he has written. Stephanie and Bill Everts also lead worship with some Crowder songs and their original compositions, and Aaron Ausmus brought a challenging message from John 8:31-36 on what it means to be truly FREE on the inside through Jesus Christ.
Sixty-three men attended the service. While there were no recorded decisions for Christ, we know that God's Word never returns void. Seeds were planted, truth was shared, and relationships were strengthened.
Thank you to this amazing team for giving up your Saturday to serve the men of Byrd Unit. We are grateful for each of you.
