Teens who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community experience mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation at much higher rates compared to their peers. Luckily, there are supports out there specifically tailored towards teens within this community, such as The Trevor Project.

If you or someone you know need support and resources within the LGBTQ+ visit thetrevorproject.org/resources or reach out to the National Su***de & Crisis line by calling or texting 988.

When a friend or loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis, there can be key warning signs to pick up on. These warning signs often fall into the categories of changes in mood, behavior, and talk.

Mood: Is the individual easily irritated? Are they experiencing extreme swings of sadness, anxiety, and/or anger?

Behavior: Is the individual more withdrawn than usual? Are they eating and sleeping more or less than usual? Are they participating in risky behaviors?

Talk: Is the individual exhibiting negative self-talk about wanting to die, being a burden, or feeling hopeless?

If you or someone you know need help and additional resources for dealing with a mental health crisis, call the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline at 988.
