The Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA) is investing in the future by awarding college scholarships to deserving students around the Toledo Bend Lake Area. In 2020, TBLA instituted the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship in honor of the man who devoted much of his life to improving his community. This year’s recipient is Allie LaRae Tarver of Florien High School, who impressed the scholarship committee with her scholastic achievement and leadership skills. Allie is receiving the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $5,000. She will be seeking a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
In addition to the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship, TBLA approved funding to award more scholarships. Caleb Corley is receiving a TBLA scholarship for $3,500. Caleb is a graduating senior from Negreet High School, and he will be seeking a degree in Secondary Education at Northwestern State University. Emma Wilkerson is also receiving a TBLA scholarship for $2,000. Emma is a graduating senior from Negreet High School and plans to study Nursing at Harding University.
TBLA will award six $1,500 scholarships to college students who previously won scholarships in 2024 and 2025. These recipients are Allison Bordelon, Abby Shanley, Quade Leone, Victoria Gaspard, Trenton Sepulvado, and Kason Parker.
TBLA congratulates each of these deserving students. TBLA is committed to improving the communities surrounding the Toledo Bend Lake Area, and one of the many ways it does so is by empowering the youth. In addition to the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship, TBLA supports area high school fishing teams, 4-H shooting teams, the LDWF 5th Grade Aquatic Education Days, SWCD Kids Fish Fest, and back-to-school supplies for children in Many and Hemphill.
