Building Opportunities Today and for Generations to Come!

We are so proud of this year's STEP (Students Transitioning to Employment Pathways) Program! Through our partnership with Terrebonne Parish School District, students with disabilities are gaining real-world work experience at TARC's Cajun Confections and Cedar Chest Boutique's thrifts stores, building skills, confidence, and friendships along the way!

To our TARC teams — Christina LeBouef and the entire Cajun Confections staff, along with our Cedar Chest West team — thank you for sharing your knowledge, encouraging our students, and helping them build the confidence and skills they need to thrive and discover the many possibilities ahead!

💚 A heartfelt thank you to Alaina Leftwich Black and Rayette Chaisson for their instrumental roles in helping launch the STEP Program, and to Dusty Foret, who now leads the program and continues to build on that strong foundation! Your dedication, passion, and belief in these students have helped STEP grow into something truly special, creating opportunities for students to gain confidence, discover their abilities, and prepare for a future where they can thrive. We are so grateful for all you have done and continue to do!

💙 A special thank you to Blaise Pellegrin and Mary Lynn Bisland for their vision and leadership in creating STEP and helping it grow each year!

It truly takes a team to create opportunities that last a lifetime!

As we approach TARC's millage renewal on November 3, let's remember:

❤️ The students in our schools today are the adults TARC will serve tomorrow.

This renewal is about supporting the adults who depend on TARC today while helping ensure opportunities and essential services remain available for future generations.

💙💚 Strong Communities Include Everyone.

Congratulations to TARC’s Family of the Year—The Ocker’s! We are so proud to recognize and celebrate our TARC family with our community and with the state!

❤️ Congratulations, Quinton Ocker! ❤️

The Arc of Louisiana is honored to recognize Quinton Ocker as the recipient of the Nick Berggreen Family Award at our Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet!

This special award recognizes a family member who helps a loved one live a full, meaningful, and independent life in their community. Quinton is a beautiful example of what that love and commitment look like in action.

Throughout the years, Quinton has believed in his sister’s abilities and supported her right to live life on her own terms. When challenges arose, he became her advocate, standing up to ensure she could continue receiving the services and supports she needed. When circumstances changed and his family needed him to step into a greater role, he did so without hesitation.

Because of his unwavering love, advocacy, and support, his sister has been able to maintain her independence, remain in her own home, and continue participating in the community she calls home.

Quinton reminds us that being a family member and advocate means believing in possibilities, standing up when it matters most, and helping a loved one live a life filled with dignity, choice, and belonging. ❤️

👏 Please join us in congratulating Quinton on this well-deserved honor and celebrating the incredible difference he makes in his sister’s life!
