The holidays are still weeks away, but for a lot of kids and teens, anticipatory anxiety starts now.

Changed routines. Big family gatherings. Unspoken expectations. It is a lot, even when it is supposed to be fun.

A few ways to help now, before the season ramps up:
1. Talk through what to expect ahead of time
2. Give them permission to opt out of parts that feel like too much
3. Keep an eye out for excitement flipping into dread

Small steps now can make November and December easier.

As the leaves change and the year draws to a close, we want to pause and say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has followed along, shared our posts, given to the Counseling Assistance Fund, or simply kept us in your thoughts while we build.

We are getting closer to opening our doors, and we could not do this without this community behind us.

More updates coming as we move into the final stretch of the year. www.yourwellga.org

Every kid deserves an adult in their corner who is not their parent or a teacher. This person shows up consistently, just for them.

That is the heart of mentoring at The Well. Weekly connection. Real relationship. Someone in a young person's life who says, “I see you, and I am not going anywhere.”

We are building this alongside counseling, coaching, and spiritual development.

Today's the day! We will be at Sheila Fest all day at Traditions of Braselton in Jefferson.

Come say hi, grab a bite from the food trucks, enjoy the music, and celebrate a day built for this community.

We are proud to be a Silver Sponsor this year, and even prouder to be part of a day that gives back to families right here in Jackson County.

See you there!

Sometimes what looks like anger is actually anxiety wearing a different mask.

A slammed door.
A sharp “leave me alone.”
A meltdown over something small.

For a lot of kids, especially ones who cannot yet name what they are feeling, anxiety comes out often as irritability, defiance, or anger.

Before reacting to the behavior, it can help to ask: what might be underneath this?

By mid-fall, the school-year excitement wears off and the real grind sets in for both kids and parents.

If meltdowns are showing up more than they did in August, that is common. A few things that can help:
1. Naming the feeling before problem-solving it
2. Predictable wind-down routines, especially before bed
3. Lowering the bar on “perfect” some days

You are not doing it wrong. This part is just hard!

There is something about fall air that makes people want to be outside.

We feel that same pull in how we are building The Well. A place with real room to gather, breathe, and be together.

We are getting closer every week. More to share soon.

Did you know? October is ADHD Awareness Month.

For a lot of kids, ADHD does not look like what people expect. It is not just “can't sit still.” It can look like:
1. Big feelings that seem to come out of nowhere
2. Trouble starting tasks, even ones they care about
3. Losing things constantly — not from carelessness, but from a brain wired differently

If this sounds like your child, you are not imagining it, and you are not alone. The Well is here to help. We are developing coaching and counseling support that is designed to meet kids where their brains actually are.
