Friend of Pushrods
The new year is upon us with exciting news from the Pushrods of Hoquiam.
Starting off with our annual charity auction which is on February 15th (Sunday) with a bunch of quality items to bid on. Remember that each bid is one dollar and you can bid as much as you wish. A number is assigned to each bid and when the bidding is complete a number will be drawn for the winner. A new twist to the day will be a t-shirt given to the highest bidder of any item of over $100. Great fun. Bring your friends and make a party out of the day. The event will be held at the Hoquiam Elks on 7th and K St. in Hoquiam. Auction starts at 11am and ends at 3 pm. The Elks will have lunch available.
Next up for the Pushrods is our spaghetti feed for our friends and sponsors. April 11 (Saturday) from 11am to 3pm. We have all the fixings with some surprises along the way. Show up and visit friends to start the new year. This is also a membership drive and donations are always welcome.
First ever Cruise in Swap Meet is on April 25th (Saturday) with the Midnight Cruisers. We will have it on the lot next to Duffy`s restaurant in Aberdeen. $20 space fee. Hours are 9am to 3pm. Call Mike Myers for info 206-354-9555.
Our Kick-Off show and Shine show sponsored by Tractor Supply will be on May 9th. A low key show to get your cars, trucks and bikes out in the sun for a very relaxed day. Givaways every 20 minutes provided by Tractor Supply. A few trophies will be awarded by the employees. $10 entry with all registered vehicles eligible.
There are big things happening for our Hot Rods in Hoquiam show this year. June 26 /27 are the days you will want to be here. The City of Hoquiam is having their Riverfest City festival on the same days with all kinds of things for kids and adults to do. BBQ contest,5K run, rubber ducky races, bicycle contest and much more.
On Friday(26th) we will once again have our free hot dog, chips, pop and root beer float night from 4 pm to 6 pm. At 6 pm, guess shows up ? Elvis impersonator Danny Vernon with his Illusions of Elvis show. Last year he put on an unbelievable show. Great fun and provided and sponsored by the Pushrods and the Hoquiam Elks.
Saturday the 27th (Saturday) the show officially opens at 8am, but we all know that some of you will be here at 5:30 to 6am. We will have a parking crew this year. Prizes every 20 minutes, goody bags to the first 150 cars, new trophy structure, t-shirt sales, poker walk, ELK breakfast, model car exhibit and so much more. Starting this year, the best of show pick will be next years t-shirt and dash plaque.
Go to our pushrods.org site for more information. Find our Hot Rods in Hoquiam poster and you will see a QR code. Take your phone and take a picture of it and push the orange tab, that will take you to our site (pushrods.org) where you ca get all of your information. For convenience you can preregister on the web site. Entry fee will be $25. Grand prize this year is a weekend stay at Seabrook resort. $900 tp $1,000 value. The pie in the sky number of vehicles this year is 250 to go with the 250th year anniversary of the United states. We invite all cars, trucks, rat rods, bikes new and old.
The Pushrods have been asked to organize a car show at Lake Quinault Resort in August. We will organize a cruise in to Shoalwater Bay Casino in September.
