Partners In Development Foundation Founded in 1997, PIDF provides free programs in the areas of social service, education, environmental sustainability, and Hawaiian language and culture.

Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF) empowers families to navigate social challenges and to grow self-resiliency, vibrancy, and healthy, secure communities in Hawaiʻi. E mālama i ka ‘ohana, ola ke kaiāulu, care for the family, and the community lives. From our beginnings in 1997, Partners in Development Foundation draws on ʻike kupuna, ancestral wisdom and knowledge, to meet the current challenges facing Hawaiʻi. We serve the needs of young keiki, their caregivers, and economically vulnerable youth and families in the Hawaiian community to overcome systematic disparities and historical trauma. Our programs are guided by time-tested values and practices that honor our kuleana for people and place in caring for our islands and communities. E ola ka ‘ohana, may the family thrive. Partners in Development Foundation believes that nurturing family success will ignite their ability to serve others.

Did you know Tūtū and Me offers home visiting on Hawaiʻi Island?

For caregivers with keiki from prenatal to five years old who are not enrolled in our traveling preschool, home visiting brings the support of Tūtū and Me directly to you.

Sessions are held in person or virtually, weekly or bi-weekly, and are led by a dedicated home visitor. Our loving Home Visiting team not only guides caregivers through our caregiver curriculum, but they also connect families to community resources tailored to their needs. From parenting tips to diapers and wipes, being a listening ear, and more, our Home Visitors make every caregiver feel welcome and supported as they care for their ʻohana.

A haircut may seem like a small thing. But for a young person walking through school doors for the first time in a while, it can change everything.

This summer, Kīʻapu partnered with Fresh Fade Outreach Hawai‘i to give ten ʻōpio fresh cuts and braids before the school year began. Inspiring confidence to return to school with a new look and a new outlook.

Happy Farmer’s Appreciation Day! 🌱

Today we are shouting out our mahiʻai at Kupa ʻĀina whose work in the soil is essential to creating a culture of ʻāina sustainability here in Hawaiʻi. Our farmers help to grow plants and crops but they also help to grow connection between our community and the ʻāina that feeds them.

To our Kupa ʻĀina farmers, Mahalo for showing up and staying loyal to the soil. 🤙

What was PIDF up to around this time throughout the years? 🤔

✋ 5 years ago our Tūtū and Me crew were out sign waving with Aloha United Way in Downtown Honolulu!

In 2022, Nā Pono no Nā ʻOhana were getting their hands and feet in the mud at Papahana Kuaola and tossing leaves into a loʻi.

In 2023, Kupu youth volunteers were out at Kupa ʻAina helping clear a path for a new row of crops 🌱

🌎 In 2024, our President and CEO Shawn Kanaʻiaupuni represented Hawaiʻi on stage at the Clinton Global Initiative, joining a panel on the future of racial equity. She brought Hawaiʻi’s unique perspective through ʻike kūpuna and Hawaiian values.

And just last year our Kīʻapu participants took the stage at Ka Makana Aliʻi and showed everyone how practice makes perfect when it comes to playing the ukulele. 🎶🎵🎼

Happy National Good Neighbor Day!

A good neighbor shows up, shares what they have, and looks out for their community.

We try to be good neighbors by delivering food to our families, teaching keiki to sift plastic from our beaches, and sharing our harvest with the community. 🌿

How will you be a good neighbor today? 💚
